  • Do NOT subscribe through this app.

I paid $100 for a subscription that the app does not recognize. I am out the money, and New Scientist refuses to do anything to help me.
  • A few improvements

Good app, but would love to see issue status (ie read or not read), and the ability to auto download new issues.

I often binge read my magazines every few months and so have a hard time figuring out where I left off, and end up having to download/check a bunch I’ve already read. A little annoying.

  • 4/5

Love the publication but the app could use some minor improvements

    - scrolling articles is jumpy because of the nav bar
    - scroll acceleration is also on for some reason, this is usually a feature to mimic macOS on windows, not sure why it’s happening on iOS
    - no search, at least I was not able to find it

  • The best content in the worst app

I have read and loved New Scientist for over 2 decades. This app does not do justice to the content. The app retains control of how and when content is downloaded. If you’re in airplane mode, for example, or commuting in a metro with no reliable Wi-Fi, you’ll find that the app did not download most images. Or it stopped the download after a few sections. Or, worst of all, it automatically deleted content you’d spent time downloading. When I say “spent time downloading “, I mean just that. You must scroll to the end of every page for the entire issue if you want it to land safely on your tablet. But don’t go too far, because you don’t want to trigger auto-delete by accident! It is only because the magazine is so good that I put up with this nonsense. Maybe I’ll try Zeno instead.

  • NewScientist magazine is a breath of fresh air….

One, I’m a geek who loves science. And two, I’m tired of the vitriol, hatred, and misinformation (formerly lies) that X (formerly Twitter) spews and other news media report on.

NewScientist is a British science magazine, and it talks about accomplishments and new areas of research in an easy to read format. Well researched articles describe new areas in Space, Technology, Physics, Health, Mind and Environment. Politics? Well, occasionally, but it’s not a focus and doesn’t have it’s own section. Sports? Well, unless it’s related to one of the other subjects, not really.

I’m pleased to have this resource to go to.

  • In app purchase doesn’t work

The in app feature doesn’t work. I can’t log on with my Apple account ID.
Good content, but for a science app, you think they’d know how technology works.
  • No App Support so I must write here.

Where is the 'Favorite This' Button?
    Where is the 'Back' Button?

I received a Notification of an article which I wanted to save to read in the morning.
I could not find a 'Save' or 'Favorite' Button, though it may have been in plain sight somewhere.

So, I thought, maybe I must hit 'Favorites', in there top right corner, if I remember.

Of course that listed all of nothing, those Favorites which I had saved. Maybe I couldn't find the button ever since I have downloaded this App maybe a week ago.

So I tested getting back to my article by pressing each of the buttons beneath. Nothing. No way to get back to what one is reading.

I certainly would not pay anything for an App like this.

Is it because it is late that I cannot find a button?

  • Return of an old pleasure

New Scientist was a familiar pastime in my college days 50 plus years ago, and now in my mid seventies, i am rediscovering the lost pleasures….missing a favourite…’mathematical games’ …but its a great pastime…thanks and kudos to all who are continuing the great work !
  • Quick accurate and interesting

I am a scientist and find many articles both in and outside of my field of expertise in NS. I reach for the app in my down time to inform me and to provide the references to understand the details of the journal articles that appear in the news items. I’m very happy to have NS as a resource to keep up with publications outside of my field of research.

I’m totally in love with this app! As it helps me to upgrade my space of knowledge especially while it’s the period to doing my IELTS exam! Because this app has variety sections which gives me a general idea of taking over IELTS reading and writing task2, well done for the stunning job NEW SCIENTIST.
