  • Mi light

Had a problem setting up with the instructions seems to work if you connect your phone to wifi controller then before you connect to router add your lights
    Then connect to router lastly
Cellular operation a bit flaky but works
There's no way of knowing if your lights are on if your away
    No timers either
Seems ok when it works though
But there's a lot of room for improvement

  • Can't get app to find light

Just searches and finds nothing. App opens up with 'device' and 'searching'. App support link is no help. The box it came in said put it in a socket and press any (|) button of the 4 zones immediately once you switch on the bulb - but there are no zones, just the word 'Device'.
  • Ok

But try Easybulb app. Much better
  • Works just as described

It took me a while to pair the bulbs with the wifi controller but after I did the app works flawlessly. Great alternative to Hue lights.
  • Needs slight tweak please

If you have any brain at all this is easy to set up.
The instructions are a bit vague, but with a small amount of thought it's easy to get working and it works well.
Though the 3G doesn't seem to work for me it may be a firewall issue
You have to connect initially to the Milight box network, then link the box to YOUR network.
So first look for the Milight box NETWORK and connect to it in your available networks first, then configure it and then link it in the config to YOUR named network.
It's easy, THiNK before whinging it doesn't work.
The only slightly confusing thing when using it is the 8 different control interfaces in the app when only one actually seems to work and only one is needed to control the lights.
It would be nice if I could set my chosen interface as the default one and delete the other 7 not used and needed.
This would make it slightly quicker and easier to navigate and to use.
    Overall needs polish

  • Does what it should

Works ! On led strips and bulbs. Pretty cool
  • Philips hue clone for cheap

This app controls the "mi light LED bulb" found off eBay for only a few dollars.
While not as full featured as hue, I am impressed there are wifi color Lightbulbs for cheap, it actually cost me less than a simple non-smart led bulb from home depot
  • Works

Documentation is a bit vague if not inaccurate and unclear in places. Does what it should once you manage to work out how to configure it. That said it is very basic and has no added functionality such as presets, which from an app development perspective would be simple to add. Hoped for a bit more given the investment made in the mi-light hardware. Hopefully something with more functionality will follow.

  • Works ok but app is awful

Please please update your app it looks terrible. Whoever designed it clearly has no previous design expertise. If you let me I would do it for you! I Look at the app everyday and it's painful to use!
  • Great Product, Lacking app

The LED product itself is great but the app is lacking simple features like:
    - Timers & Schedules
    - Ramp speed control
    - Scene Control
    - the ability to manually set the light to 100% by flicking the wall switch on/off quickly within a few seconds if your smartphone has no battery etc.
    - A proximity feature would also be nice eg when you arrive home the porch lights come on.
