  • Useless

Crashing every time I find a beacon and tap on it.
  • Closes when accessing a beacon

This application closes as soon as you select a beacon.
  • Doesn’t work anymore

With your latest version, we can’t change any information on beacons. The app indicates that I’m not the owner...
  • Rigged

Estimote has purposely made this app terrible to force their customers to pay $500 a month for their cloud service. Shame.

    Developer Response

We're very sorry that you have such experience. We are in the middle of fixing these issues that unfortunately made to 2.39.0 version. Hopefully 2.39.1 will arrive as soon as possible.
  • It won't work

The beacons won’t show up or locked to someone else account
  • Major problems in the latest version

The latest version broke everything. It is now impossible to change settings on beacons via this app. Every beacon is listed as out of range. The transfer ownership button is also gone.

    Developer Response

Hi Jason, we apologize for the issues you were facing in the app 2.29.0. We've introduced various fixes since then and the problem should be resolved. Please give the app a try and if there's anything wrong, let us know at contact@estimote.com. Thanks!
  • Beacon scanning flakey/firmware updates worse then before

Beacons with the default settings show up and disappear randomly, and now the firmware version field just spins and spins without reporting anything. So unreliable as to be frustrating and generally useless.
  • Great Product, Functional App

I'm a big fan of the Estimote's Bluetooth LE (BTLE) beacons, and in particular the ability to easily manage them via the cloud.

The app is really optimized to be an introduction to that experience, and includes demos for indoor mapping, general proximity, and nearby notifications, as well as links to buy beacons. It's an easy way to get started without writing any code, and helps build intuition and generate ideas about how beacons can be used. For this, the app is quite useful.

That said, once you've become familiar with the beacons, however, you're going to spend most of your time in the device management section. And while that aspect of the app is functional, it is also limited. Some settings on the Estimote devices MUST be set via the Estimote Cloud, while other features can ONLY be set via the app itself. Further, the app doesn't proactively monitor for updates from Estimote Cloud and prompt the user to update the beacons, nor is it entirely clear what the synchronization status is; especially for new users, this process can be a bit confusing.

Ultimately, my preference would be for Estimate to publish two apps: One for introducing new customers the concepts, and then another that's focused exclusively on managing beacons. And then, ideally, I'd like to see better feature parity and integration with Estimote Cloud, so that the app isn't just a necessary in-between, but a seamless piece of glue to tie together the infrastructure.

And, finally, it'd be really nice if Estimote made their app compatible with the iPad, as that would be more convenient for large-scale management. (As is, the iPhone app can run on the iPad, but it's obviously not taking full advantage of the available screen real estate.)

  • Do not upgrade.

On both my iPhone 7 and iPad Pro, running iOS 10.01 the application is unable to detect my beacons inches away. I have logged out, uninstalled/reinstalled, toggled location permissions, etc. Nothing is working.

Good thing I don't have hundreds of beacons to configure.
  • Broken, waste of money and time

Terrible waste of time. Beacons are constantly lost on radar, firmware update is impossible. There is virtually zero company support and because this is a gimmick pay by service there is no community support. Don't waste your time, wait until competent people take this in and open source it. The apps are broken in almost every sense and nothing can get done. Amazing waste of time.
