Description of bent.fm lite

bent.fm is a full FM model of a circuit-bent synthesizer. bent.fm allows the user to tweak classic circuit bending modifications like fine and octave-decimated clock bends, and experiment with more esoteric bends. Circuit-bent distortions and algorithmic sequences can be created by (im)proper connections on the bend matrix. Reroute digital serial information through the base chip set (a numerically controlled oscillator) and extra logic gates (NAND and XOR, binary counters), and experience architecture-level bit crushing. For anyone interested in circuit bending, glitch sounds, industrial music, and post-procedural art. PLEASE NOTE: On the iPhone version, bent.fm only allows control of one of the oscillators due to space constraints. If you do not have an iPad, please get bent.fm lite instead, it's free! On the iPad version, bent.fm lets you re-route connections between both the oscillators. Audiobus and IAA supported!

Reviews of bent.fm lite

  • I love it

It’s super fun to mess with. That being said: the only problem I have is that the sounds do not play through Bluetooth headphones when they are connected.

Before, when I had wired headphones, I had to unplug and replug them after starting the app in order for it to register the headphones as connected, and send the signal through them. Unfortunately, I lost my old headphones; so I no longer have them as a backup and now only use Bluetooth (which does not connect, at least on the 2020 SE) I’d like to make weird technobabble noises without everyone else hearing what I’m doing. Please fix this issue.
  • Once fun app, now silent.

Works sporadically if it all on the latest iPadOS
  • This is one of my favorite noise making apps.

I’m a circuit bender hobbyist, and this app is the closest thing that you’re ever going to find to an actual circuit bent keyboard. So much glitching and noise! I wish there was a VST like this for my PC DAW. I use this app a lot with Garageband, which is kind of my “hobby-fun, music maker, idea maker” for when I’m on the go. This app is free, and there are no annoying adds. And the sounds are amazing. You never know what you’re going ti get out of it. It’s a serious, “happy accident” generator.
