Love the sounds, but no midi?

Loaded the app in Aum(inter-app audio) the app is unable to receive midi?
I would give a 5 stars but if no midi...it is not good

Crashes in GarageBand - Unusable

I wanted to like it but if you try using it as an AU in GarageBand it crashes after about 4 bars. I had to purchase a competing similar app to get my Mellotron sounds. Sad.

Thanks for the developer response. It still crashes. Trying it as inter-app audio (not AU). It’s unusable. Changing the review to one star until it’s updated and fixed.

Hi there, Though we are not officially stating that Mellotron XL supports AU and Inter-app, we just ran the app (iPhone 11 PRO) both as AU and Inter-app with GarageBand with no problems or crashes at all. /Mellotron Team

Sounds different

I’ve had this app forever and love it. However, after the last upgrade, it sounds different. Before, it sounded like a true Mellotron, now it doesn’t. Also, the reverb was long overdue, and makes a huge difference.

Amazing App

Very very great! Sound is great and is fun to play with. However, I would like to ask why it sounds either out of tune or a bit late for a quick moment when you press a note. For example, whenever I use the 8 Voice Choir, the voices sound very out of tune before finally getting in place. I hope that could be fixed. But otherwise, I immensely enjoy this app. 10/10!

Hi! Thanks for the review. The Mellotron app is using sounds from the original Mellotron/Chamberlin sound tapes. The reason why you are experiencing some delay on some sounds and that some sounds are slightly out-of-tune are simply because that is how the original ones sounded! /Mellotron Team

Cannot be played by a midi player app

Disappointing because of cost compared to real functionality.

Gets the job done and then some

Having a portable Tron is something I couldn’t resist. I’ve been experimenting with it in conjunction with some small synths and the results are interesting and effective. Definitely plan on going further with it.

*If I had one thing I wish was in there it would perhaps be a set-up bank. Opening it up to the same three voices can get a little tiresome, especially when I need to re -figure out which combination I was liking in a previous session.

Other than that though, simple and intuitive instrument with some unexpected quirks (shifting and double tapping the knobs WHILE playing has made some really cool sounds).

No Sound

Like a couple other people who’ve left reviews recently I am not getting any sound from the app. I’m running it on an updated iPad that is only two years old. All my other keyboard apps work fine. I tried deleting and reinstalling as suggested, still no sound. Is there a fix coming any time soon?

We have noticed that the app wont generate any sound when the device is in mute/silent mode, this was the problem for a couple of other users, please check this in your device Control Center. A new version of the app will be available this weekend on the app store and will address this issue. If this wont solve your problem, please send an email to the support with your problem and device exact modell and iOS version. /Mellotron Team

Doesn’t work

I would like my money back please. I purchased both the Mellotron and Mellotron XL apps on my iphone 8 and neither makes any sounds.

Great update!! Excellent app

Everything seems great!! Thanks for the hard work!!!!

Feature request: background audio. Last state saving when closing. Or even presets so when you close you can instantly have your last sound back.

( background audio gives you the ability to turn off the iOS screen and allow the app to still play )

Good ideas! But right now the hardware Mellotrons need some love. A bit unclear what you mean with ”background audio”? You can play along to another app that is platina music, and with Audiobus you can play while the Mellotron app is in the background. /Mellotron Team
