Complete disappointment
I can’t make it sync with camera. Total failure.
Only connected once
I was so excited about having the ability to remotely zoom in and out while videoing my online course. Purchased the Vixia HF R80 just for this feature. I was only able to connect once. After that no matter what sequence or scenario I tried, my the app would not connect even when I was connected manually through my iPhone settings. Such a HUGE disappointment!!!

Disappointed in video quality
Terrible quality of recordings compared to the features of the vixia camera hf r72. The app should allow the camera to have its screen set.
I Tried recording to both my phone and iPad and expected lower quality there. But the recording on the camera it self was terrible compared to manual operation.
Please allow us to use the camera settings for scenes, framing etc!!!

Using "Monitor from Home" mode - works great
I am using the "Monitor from Home" option with this app, and my Canon Vixia HF R52. Phone is iPhone 6s+. This works great. I would like to see an option that lets me livestream broadcast using Vixia video camera as source, directly to Facebook Live and YouTube live. Other apps are doing this for other cameras. I would pay for this app feature. Please contract me regarding this. I am a software engineer.
Here's how I connected my phone to the Vixia using the Monitor from Home option:
On Vixia, in recording mode, choose the top left home menu button. On that screen, choose the "Remote Control+Streaming" menu. Button image for this menu looks like a smartphone. It should be on the right. Tap that button or slide to bring that button to the center of menu. Tap it (phone icon) again to enter into the Remote Control+Streaming menu.
Now there are 3 options on the left: "Monitor from Home", monitor remotely, and options. Tap "Monitor from Home". Follow instructions on that screen, which says to connect your phone's wifi to the Vixia's wifi on your phone. Note: unless you are connected to a mobile network, this will disable the Internet on your phone. You will need to verify your phone connects back to your regular internet wifi after your Vixia connection is ended.
On your phone, go to the wifi menu and it should display the Vixia wifi. Connect to that wifi using the credentials displayed on the Vixia "Monitor from Home" screen. On the Vixia "Monitor from Home" screen, it should say "Connected".
Now open the free "CameraAccess plus" app on your phone. Under "Monitor from Home", tap the Start button. It may flash a "searching" notice but quickly you should see an entry on the app screen that says "[OK]". Tap that and you should see the real-time video of your Vixia displayed on your phone.

Human
Selected & Bought R50 camcorder & CT-V1 pan table specifically for the remote control & remote monitoring capability. Figuring you can't go wrong with OEM gear from a major maker like Canon. Like the other reviewers, the wireless connection was established only for a few seconds and the camcorder cannot be reconnected again. Another piece of junk in my recycling bin. Should have read the feedback before purchase.

Disappointed
The Wi-Fi ID of my camcorder appears for about two seconds in my iPhone's Wi-Fi settings and then disappears. Then the app never recognizes my camcorder. I spent good money on the camcorder in order to be able to remotely control it with this app. So far, I have been nothing but frustrated and totally disappointed. What a waste! The only reason it's getting one star is because it has to be rated at wall in order to be able to send this message.

Poor functionality
Zoom controls are unresponsive. The camera does not actually zoom while you are touching them; instead it zooms afterward. Display on the iPhone does not shift to "landscape" when you turn the phone, unlike almost every other app. On this app it would be helpful, because the dispaly would then match that of the camcorder. Why can't Canon make a simple little cheap remote control that zooms and turns the camcorder on/off, which is all this does? Who needs the creepy "monitor while not home" function?

No manual on how to use...
I own the Canon XF-205 and have it set-up correctly on my wi-fi network. Unfortunately, their support documentation is terrible. Went to their website and the information they have is embarrassing. Better documentation is a must. I can’t believe they put this out there.
crashes every time on 4S
This will only run for about 10 seconds on my iphone 4s before it crashes!!! makes my canon wireless pan base useless!!! Wish they offered another app that works, or an older version that would work on my phone or ipad.
App quits on iPhone 4
Features sound nice, but app keeps crashing while camera monitoring is in progress. Happens during monitor at home and monitor while away. I had better luck temporarily using an iPhone 6.
