If you are new to mahjong this is a great app. Although there are some bugs and problems they are not a serious issue. For the novice mahjong player it is an easy way to become familiar with the Chinese characters, and this is especially true if the mahjong tiles you own have only the Chinese numbers. After playing with the app a few times you will be able to recognize the numbers on the tiles easily.
The app runs smoothly and very quickly on my iPad mini (the new model). Although it locks up with the Kong function, (where you have 4 the same), you can prevent this by hitting pass.
Unlike the games of mahjong solitaire in this app you are playing against 3 other (computer generated) opponents and it is a lot like playing with real people.
