Reviews of Spanish Grammar

  • Has Promise, Needs Revision

This app is a good idea, but has several flaws that impede learning. Suggestions to improve:

    1. The grammar explanations should be accesible before the exercise for users to review/learn the tense. (The way it set up now presumes users have significant previous knowledge of Spanish grammar, well above beginner levels). This is especially true since free users are limited to 10 rounds per day.

    2. The 10 rounds per day should be repeatable. Timely repetition leads to retention. Locking users out with no method to review their errors discourages motivation to practice and learn. I know the developers want to make money by encouraging a paid download, but the “trial” play is too restrictive to motivate much more than an occasional visit. Especially when robust apps like DuoLingo are 100% free to practice and learn in progressive stages at your own pace. This app would be a great compliment since it focuses on grammatical syntax rather than fluency and vocabulary.

    3. Do not automatically move on to the next when answer is complete. Correct or incorrect, the user should have ample time to review their input to better understand how the grammar functions.

    4. Users should have the option to choose the tense they want to practice (and have 10 examples in that round if they so choose or mix and match the tenses). This enables the user to learn at their pace. Perhaps I know Present Tense very well, but lack ability in Future Imperfect. I’d rather not waste my free rounds being forced to review a tense I’ve already mastered.

    5. Use complete sentences that make sense contextually. Many of the phrases, while the grammatical structure was correct (I assume), had gibberish meanings (at least in the English translation). If this is a case a poor translations, hire a more fluent translator.

Like I said, the app has promise and could be a very useful free learning tool if the developers expand usability and find other ways to monetize the app at a fair price (for example, ad supported and pay to remove ads).
  • App keeps marking correct answers as wrong

App marks answers that are identical to it's suggested answers as wrong. Needs fixing
  • Good app

Cool app, just what I needed.
A little bit difficult. Not bad for practical course, but it could be better with some theory stuff
