2.2.1

March 16, 2018

Several bug fixes, clearer explanations, a revamped customer support section, and a better firmware upgrade process, which will recover Range Dials that have become unresponsive because they're stuck in upgrade mode. Predicted done time. This is technically beta, but I wanted to get this out to you in time for a long turkey cook. Now when you set an alert in portrait orientation, you'll see an estimated time remaining to get there (and in the Today View that you get to by swiping right from your phone's notifications screen, if you've added the Range widget to that). I wouldn't completely trust the turkey to this, but me know how it works for you. As always, contact me with any feedback through Customer Support (under the Settings gear icon). Egg preset. Making great soft-boiled eggs can be tricky. We've added two tried-and-true methods. @beau suggested the idea, and if you're using the default USDA preset temperatures, you'll get his method — bring to a boil, then 6 minutes at a simmer. If you're using the gourmet preset temperatures, you'll get my wife's — drop the eggs into boiling water for 3 minutes. Get the complete instructions when you tap on the egg preset.

Kitchen scientists—graph and save temperature data to experiment with your recipe. Or, use Range as an instant-read thermometer and get audio alerts to nudge you when your candy has hit the hard ball stage. • Real-time temperature readings. Check the temperature over the Internet from any iOS device. • Set rising or falling temperature alerts with a swipe of a finger. • Remote alerts to all your iOS devices when your dish is done. • USDA and gourmet presets for meat and candy make it even easier to cook a perfect dish. • Minimal interaction. Reviews of Range cooking thermometer

  • My first medium rare steak

I was pretty excited about trying this out. Watching the temperature go up from the other room was awesome. It also lets you know the estimated time to ideal temperature based on how fast food is heating up. I honestly don’t know what level of done my steak was in the past, but after seeing what an actual medium rare looks like, I feel lucky I never gave myself food poisoning in my uninformed cooking adventures and grateful for the culinary deliciousness I now cook with the Range.
  • Love it

I’ve had a range since their kickstarter campaign and I upgraded when they came out with the dial. It’s make cooking in the kitchen way easier and more precise. Only thing I wish they would add is a watch widget so do I don’t need to be near my phone.

    Developer Response

Nick, I hear you. A Watch widget has been on the back burner, but we'll work on it. I agree it'd be useful. Thanks for being a repeat customer!
  • Touch and go

Ever since I have upgraded to the new iPhone the thermometer will not connect. Good luck to everyone else. Looking for an alternative smart thermometer.

    Developer Response

Sorry to hear your Range won't work. Did you contact customer support through the app? We can troubleshoot. If it's an older Range that connects through the headphone jack, unfortunately the results with Apple's Lightning adapter are inconsistent, and we can't support it (though depending on the device, it does work). That's why we made the Bluetooth Range Dial—again, contact us and we'll see what we can do to help you.
