  • Why doesn't the app work?

This seems to be a third party app. Not sure what happened to the original. Worked great for a couple days and now it simply doesn't recognize the device. Not sure why... Skip this product.
  • App is terrible

App is terrible. The device, on timer, works great.
  • Not good

When I first got it it worked fine. After about a week the app would not connect to the plug in at all, making my $15 outlet useless.
  • Very buggy

Often not finding the connection. Setup is not smooth
  • Neglected app

Unfortunately, I feel like I wasted my money on this product.

The device seems well-made; however, the functionality of the app was a disappointment -- to say the least -- and never worked as advertised for me.

I actually purchased this over a year ago. I tried using it then but had problems with the app -- with both the timer and Bluetooth connectivity. So, to give Monoprice a break, I decided I would hold off on my review and put the device up for about a year, hoping I'd come back and find several updates and be able to salvage my purchase.

To my dismay, however, Monoprice has failed to update this app since March 2014.

It looks like they've given up, so I guess I give up as well.

I have had good experiences with Monoprice in the past and the device and app do have some basic functionality, so I'm giving this 2 stars, but it's a shame that the company doesn't take more pride in ITS products.

  • Good idea with NFC and Timer controlled outlets but doesn't work

So if iPhone would connect with out having to reset up every time would be great. But half time doesn't detect each other or have to give permission every time it doesn't connect. Not sure why. No other bluetooth connections do I have to do that. But with 2 plugs on programable timers and 2 on NFC and then one always on. Great idea and could be useful but doesn't work correctly on iPhone APP

  • Great when it actually works

I have it connected to the wall power adapter. Everyday it says no connected devices found. It needs work.
  • Doesn't Recognize Switch Connected

The app doesn't recognize that I am connected to the switch anymore. iPhone 5S, iOS 7.1
  • Great idea with a few flaws

The idea behind this app is excellent, however there are a few shortcomings in how the app works. This update especially has made control of the switch difficult in Near Field Communications mode. Even with the phone in close proximity of the switch the monoprice Bluetooth switch will occasionally turn off by itself. The switch has always turned back on after, but the flickering is a nuisance and can affect usability.
In addition while there are three control schemes, you cannot implement them all at once. Thus if you come home during the middle of the day when you don't need your lights, it will come on anyways. One kludge that has worked reasonably well for me is turning off Bluetooth on my iphone until I want the light on, but this is not really an acceptable answer and not everyone will be able to do this just to accommodate one app/ switch.
