Description of Tennessee Aquarium

The Tennessee Aquarium's free App, powered by Tennessee Tech University, helps you plan your visit, make the most of your aquatic adventure and helps you share highlights with family and friends. And, we hope you’ll enjoy many of the App’s features after your visit. Discover cool animal facts, share your photos via Facebook, Twitter and E-mail and make a difference by supporting the Tennessee Aquarium's freshwater conservation programs. The Tennessee Aquarium, a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution, inspires wonder, appreciation and protection of water and all life that it sustains. The Aquarium serves as a vital link connecting people to freshwater and the ocean beyond. Within the Aquarium's two buildings, visitors follow the path of a raindrop from the streams of an Appalachian Cove Forest to the depths of the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. Along the way, guests meet more than 10,000 animals in a richly diverse living collection. The Aquarium also operates the IMAX 3D Theater and the River Gorge Explorer. Guests can plunge into a 3D underwater adventure or take a virtual trip to exotic locations at Chattanooga's premiere movie theater. Located at the Chattanooga Pier, the River Gorge Explorer is the United State's only high-speed vessel operating on an inland waterway. An Aquarium naturalist leads each cruise, pointing out wildlife and historic points of interest while traveling to and from a protected habitat within "Tennessee’s Grand Canyon."

  • Not a well conceived app

I had just created an online account and purchased tickets, so I thought I’d download the app to have quick access to my tickets and plan my trip. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t connect to the website, so it’s not possible to log in and access tickets or view your history. The app hasn’t been updated in two years, so it’s clearly not a priority. Every time I tried to open the photo booth, the app crashed. As far as I can tell, the only real function of the app is to create a checklist of the exhibits you’d like to visit and check them off as you go. There’s a basic information page and that’s about it. They reference the app is built by Tennessee Tech but seems like it’s a project done by freshmen. Not sure what the point of having the app is.

  • Could be great, but it’s just not.

I was really excited to use this on an upcoming trip but was disappointed. Inside the aquarium complex and also at our hotel, the app wouldn’t load imax show times. You could theoretically create an itinerary for the day but the reminders were buggy and wouldn’t work. The photo booth pretty much never loaded. It was pretty much a waste of time to download this... you’re better off just looking at their website for details.

  • Aquarium good. App bad.

This app worked fine until we got to the aquarium. It would not open or do anything. I think the idea of sending notices before sessions is great, but useless if the app won't open. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it. Still nothing.
