Description of Field Guide to Queensland Fauna

The animals found in the Australian State of Queensland are diverse and extraordinary. Detailed descriptions of animals, maps of distribution and endangered species status combine with images to provide a valuable reference that can be used in urban, bush and coastal environments. The content has been developed by the scientists at the Queensland Museum in collaboration with scientists from our major partner, Museum Victoria, and all other Australian Museums. This app holds descriptions of over 560 species encompassing birds, fishes, frogs, lizards, snakes, mammals, turtles, freshwater, marine and terrestrial invertebrates, spiders and insects including butterflies. From animals found on Queensland’s coral reefs, in rock-pools, in tropical rainforests, in deserts and in the suburbs, the habitats are hugely varied but only represent a tiny fraction of the true diversity of life in this large State. Our scientists will continue to add new species and refine this app over time. This app is one of a suite of field guides for each state and territory, developed by Australia’s leading natural history museums.

  • Good but there are some things missing...

The app is good but I find it extremely hard to understand how you would forget to include the southern cassowary and the tree kangaroo. Also I think the koalas distribution on the map is very inaccurate there are way more in Queensland than it says.
  • Needs more

I agree with other reviews....some very common birds & sounds not included. Ditto for the animals too. Needs more added. Great start though. More and more people travelling locally in the future, will need this app.
  • Needs more entries

For what it is this is a great little field guide but it is frustrating that many relatively common birds and animals are not included. More bird calls would also be great. Hopefully someone soon will add more entries. Would be happy to pay for a more extensive quite.
