Reviews of UniChar

  • Good, but…

A lot of symbols are missing, I have to pay like $5 for it to work completely, and the instructions are misleading. (You don’t actually have to enable full access, and even when you hold the globe button, it just doesn’t show up, you HAVE to use the app.) I understand you might not have enough, well, time, or money, for the first two, but surely you can fix the last one.

Edit: whoops I guess it shows up now

still fix it, it’s quite the confusion

    Developer Response

Hey there, thanks for writing a review! I’m happy to address your points. All symbols are available via a one-time in-app purchase. Can you let me know where the instructions are that’s misleading? In the app it says you only need to turn on full access if you’d like to sync recently used. If UniChar Keyboard is not showing up, restarting your device should fix it — this is a bug Apple will need to fix in a future iOS update. Hope that helps! Note if you update your review I’ll see it and can respond again!
  • Keyboard setup is confusing (edited)

The instructions for setup are wrong. There's no "UniChar" in my Preferences. For a while there was no "UniChar" in the list of keyboards, but then it appeared after I moved the app to the Home Screen. Is this needed for the keyboard to show up? I don't know! I still don't have it in the main Preferences, so either way, the instructions are out of date and cause unnecessary confusion and anger.

Previous review: I paid $5 for something I could get from a quick browser search. I'm very disappointed.

    Developer Response

Hello, sorry to hear of the troubles enabling UniChar Keyboard. I’m not sure what you’re referring to with Preferences, however the instructions in the app are correct: Turn on UniChar in Settings > UniChar > Keyboards. If that option doesn’t exist, try restarting your device. Let me know if that works — you can update your review and I’ll see it! Cheers
  • Problem Solved

I had a problem: I needed to enter a specific symbol into text, and neither Apple, nor Google, or Microsoft thought that functionality important enough to provide in their text-centric iPadOS apps. But you did, and for just $5. Now, I can enter any from your exhaustive list of symbols (there might be thousands; I don’t know, because I haven’t counted them) into every app I have that has a paste function, which is all of the ones I care about. And I think that’s pretty great. So, thank you!
