4.0

Completely rewritten from the ground up! It's been a long while since the last update and there's been a lot of user input. There's still a few nuggets I want to integrate but I wanted to get this new release into your hands as fast as possible. What's new in v4.0 • The Vehicle Maintenance Log has been completely rewritten from the ground up in the newest programming language for faster performance. • Now compatible with both iPhone and iPad • The updated vehicle listing now contains fields for your vehicle's plate no., VIN no. and a long awaited photo! That's right, you can now select a photo from your photo gallery, scale it, rotate it, crop it - add it to your vehicle profile to quickly identify your vehicle. • The improved import/export feature now allows you to either export a CSV file via email, or save the CSV directly into your iCloud account as a backup - just in case you ever loose your device. Import a file saved into your iCloud account right back into the App. • The new preferences panel allows our international users to select both their preferred date format as well as choose a currency format - dollar, euro, pound or yen. • Not only can you sort your vehicles by model year, but you can now use the new search field to narrow down your search even further. • Tired of the sound effects? You can now disable them in the preferences panel. • New users will be treated with some default vehicles to help them get a feel for how the App will display their data.

Reviews of Vehicle Maintenance Log

  • Look elsewhere

Not impressed with this app. It’s missing extremely basic functionality like landscape mode, copy/paste (why do I have to manually type in the entire VIN?), etc. It needs serious work to be useful.

    Developer Response

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the App as it's entire purpose was to simplify basic record keeping and not complicate it with unnecessary options. The lack of utilizing the landscape format was a design decision and one we're always reevaluating for future releases. With relation to your comment regarding the VIN number, we'd love to hear your thoughts pertaining to it's functionality. We're not aware of any database that we'd be able to easily query simply from the make and model of your vehicle, especially for something that's neither a required field nor fundamental to the functionality of the App. We will however need to look into why the copy/paste functionality isn't working as expected.
  • Exactly what I needed and was looking for.

I was looking for simple to use but flexible maintenance log to replace the paper version that I keep in my vehicles. This fit the bill perfectly. It tracks miles, dates, service descriptions, cost, and who did the work. This is what I want to track. Service description can be brief or detailed and can be edited after the fact. This is so superior to the paper log I’ve been keeping.

    LIKES:
    1. Flexible description field.
    2. Editable entries.
    3. Can sort by miles, dates, or just look at type of service. Avoids costly duplication of services already performed. Quick, convenient.
    4. Saves money by avoiding duplication of routine maintenance services too often.
    5. I like the fact that I can update the log anytime, anywhere instead of having to find the paper book as before.
    6. I like the export or email a CSV file report.
    7. No harassment to upgrade and no pesky ads. For the price of an expensive candy bar ($1.99) I get the full version. Of course it’s s a gamble. If you don’t like it you just burned $1.99.

    WISH LIST
    1. It would be nice if it had a box or some fields in the vehicle description screen where I could list specs and details about the vehicle. For example, I like to see a quick reference to tire pressure, recommended oil, recommended oil change intervals, warranty time periods, and even capacities. Perhaps the fields would be user definable so each user could define for themselves what they deem important to have quick reference to. As a work around, I have created zero mileage entries to show the specs and intervals that I want quick reference to. As zero mileage entries they can always show up at the top.
    2. Reminders for routine maintenance like oil changes or transmission service might be nice but I’m not too concerned about not having this feature. I have other apps that do reminders and it seems like I always have a backlog of “To Do” items. I start to ignore the reminders because I always am being reminded of something that needs maintenance.
    3. I’ve discovered that you can’t correct the miles or the category once you log the service. Not a big issue but a few times I have had to delete and renter the item because I wanted to correct the category or the mileage. For example, I put, “Replaced the cabin air filter” under Ventilation instead of under Filters. (I’m still not sure where I want to put it). I had to delete the whole entry and reenter it again. Not a big deal. It’s very simple to delete and reenter. What is the ventilation category for anyway? Perhaps it’s for AC recharges.
  • Not working

After adding 2 vehicles, I no longer could save information for more vehicles. I would like a refund

    Developer Response

We have been unable to reproduce the issue you are having with only being able to save the information for 2 vehicles. If you still have the App installed (we realize this is an older post) we'd love to have you repeat the steps you took so that we could attempt to reproduce and address that issue.
