My sister and I love doing what I’d call Family games together .
This is a great game that allows us to play fast fun games without having to set up the board game version ( getting lazy in my old age). It has cool different ships and colors for the ships plus ranks you go up the more you play. It also doesn’t cost to play ( Being retired that’s another nice feature) although eventually we will probably pay to have ads removed. Recently , at Christmas , we ran into a bug where my sister lost one hundred battles and the free ship after ten days of ten battles a day with me. She tried it again for another ten days and it happened again. The support department was very nice and responsive
In fixing the problem. We can’t thank them enough for their help. We both highly recommend this game .

This game will challenge you to rethink everything you think you know about battleship strategy. I personally didn’t like it after the initial easy beginning newbie matches because I was getting shredded by players left and right. I ended up messaging the admins for help and they came through big with some strategy ideas. After learning to implement the new ideas on play I still lose sometimes but now I hold my own and I am having a blast just as you will too! Do it! (Best Palpatine voice)

Thanks for the review ukdream17! :-)So I found out what classifies you as “Dishonorable” in this game. It has nothing to do with completing a game because I would complete the game until it said “Continue” at the bottom. As soon as you click that continue an advertisement begins. Once the advertisement is done you can select the option to close the ad or follow it. Once you close it you go back to the main screen.
I didn’t want to waste my time watching the same stupid ads after every game. So as soon as the ad began I would close the app and reopen it. It saved tons of time, but I learned that THIS made me become labeled as dishonorable. I even deleted my account and started fresh to find the same result. So there is no reason to use the Honorable Retreat flag if you know the game is over. Refusing to watch the stupid ads is what makes you dishonorable. The app developers told me once before that the honorable retreat flag prevented the dishonorable tag but that was a lie.

Thanks for the review Woolf1219. As you might imagine, I play our game very often. I always have a win rate of 60% or higher, not because I'm cheating, but because a lot of players use very easy to guess fleet setups and some use inefficient shot patterns. The honor status reflects unfinished games, because we had problems with players, we call them "vanity cheaters", that will leave a match, when they think they're losing. You always have the option to use the white flag button (honorable retreat). Then you earn a loss, but your honor status is untouched. Why not use that option? I ask the following question for years now and not once I got a good answer: if cheating is so easy in our game, why not point us in the right direction? The internet must be full of working cheats, right? EDIT: People underestimate probabilities. For the first 5 or 6 shots, the chance to hit a ship is always higher than 20%. If you play Yahtzee for example, it can happen, that you roll 3 or 4 Yahtzees in a row. It's the same with our game. Sometimes crazy games happen. I had games where I won in 5 turns. Rare, but it happens. Same goes the other way around. Your example of putting ships next to each other is something I also use, it's a good strategy. But I have countless times "felt" that this is, for example, the carrier next to the cruiser and destroyed these ships in one turn. There's no cheating involved, just luck and experience. And no, I never admitted to cheating problems (exception as told above: vanity cheaters and leaderboard cheaters, but that's a different thing and we have that under control). We use a very good anti-cheat tool. We see each cheat attempt (memory hack) and we know for a fact that the normal cheat engines out there won't work with our game. And these engines are what 99% of the so called hackers use. No hard feelings. You can probably imagine how it feels to have to explain the same things 5 years in a row and whatever you say, some people will tell you, that you don't know your own game etc. I assure you, we love our game and we care about it. If we had a cheating problem, like opponents seeing your fleet, we would ask our players for help and not denying it. Take care! EDIT: we haven't blocked a player in along time. Only thing we do block is the chat (if we get lots of reports of a player being insulting). Best write us an email at support@smuttlewerk.de so I can check your account. EDIT: thx for the updated review! :-) We once thought we add custom grid sizes and fleet sizes, but we abandoned the work on it, because of the overhead this would have caused. Sometimes it's better to keep things simple. EDIT: ok, I tested it here. I played a match and tapped on continue on the end screen. As soon as the ad was there, I closed the game and restarted it. No unfinished game. Then I started a new one, used the "white flag" to restreat. Ad came up, I closed the game and restarted it. No unfinished game. I don't know what you're doing for this to happen. I have tested only on Android, might be an iOS specific thing. I will test it later on my iPad and let you know. One thing: if what you tell me happens, it is not on purpose.When I was in my younger years I always wanted to play battleships the board game. And I was scrolling down the App Store I saw fleet battle. I was like ok, I checked the pictures of the game and immediately saw it was my favorite board game set up so I was extremely excited. I check the reviews some had 1 stars so I read through them and I jumped right into the app. Immediately I felt in love. Love at first sight, it is a 3D battleships game that you can Customize ships and get new modified ones! It does a lot of game modes and offline so if your on a plane it will work (I hope I haven’t been on a plane in a bit) Now everyone’s least favorite ads, don’t worry ads won’t frustrate you to much. All in all I have no complaints it’s just one rule…have fun. Don’t let the other 1 star reviews put down this masterpiece of a game. (Note to devs, Thank you for bringing back my childhood)

Second: I’ve had two different profiles. 1st one I ended up with “most dishonorable” and thought it was I had a loosing record. I would quit the game/app after the game was over and looked at the opponents map to learn how players were setting up .. I’d quit then because the ads that auto play. Restart the game and play another round.
Third: after ending up with most dishonorable it would be almost impossible to match with another player for a game. I deleted the profile then restarted another. This time I did the same as far as playing but I didn’t quit the game after viewing the maps I would let the ads play then get into another game. Now I’m “Most Honorable” status.
So it looks like you will get penalized as if you left during the game without surrendering even though you finished the game and only quit before the ads play. I get the ads in a free playing game and agree with paying to remove ads if that is what you want. The developers deserve revenue for their work. Just FYI to new players from what I’ve experienced as info.
If you enjoy the game but don’t want to purchase in-app content, let the ads play after the game and don’t quit the app and restart to bypass the ads as it will penalize you and as you get more penalized it will be harder to match players and play the game going forward.

We just talked about that here and being honest, it should not count as an unfinished game when you close the game to skip an ad. The game data gets uploaded to the server once you get to the game results screen. And the ads start when you go back to the start scene. We have to check this, I mean, it's good for us in a way, but we don't want frustrated players because of this.You USED TO give us a choice to play a dishonorable match or not. Now we HAVE to play dishonorable whether we want to or not! Why? Why did you change this? When this first happened I closed down the game without even starting the match, and you lowered MY rating from most-honorable to honorable! So you punish me for not wanting to play cheaters and whatever is dishonorable about them. This game is loaded with cheaters. For example, one of my last few games I was about to win, I chose a wrong tile but that left me knowing what my last move should be to win. The opponent then went straight to the last 3 of my ships he hadn’t hit at all, one after another, bam bam bam without a miss or even any hesitation. He’d been floundering around to keep his most-honorable status. But with me having 1 more move he “found” and sunk all 3 of mine as fast as the game accepted hits. I wrote “cheater” to him. He didn’t deny it.

Hello - no worries, the honor system got changed and to make iot work for everyone, we had to reset it. After 100 matches played, you will be most honorable again (if you don't leave matches on purpose) :-)). Hold your finger on the honor status on the name plate to see a tooltip! EDIT: An explanation is needed here: being dishonorable has nothing to do with cheating. It means people leave a match too often (= unfinished games). This may happen due to all reasons: crashes, on purpose etc. We DO NOT see why a player leaves, it is technically impossible. We use a good anti-cheat tool that lets us see every attempt to hack the game. If you like, send us an email and I send you a few screenshots that will hopefully convince you that I do not lie about this. If we had a cheater problem, I would ask our community for help. And most people don't answer in the chat, that is quite normal. I had been one to play several games a day, but since the latest upgrade, I lost all of my history and had to start over. I contacted the developer but got nothing. Also, ads (which I know get the developer money) actually partially blocks the screen. I have also informed the developer of that and they don’t seem to care. I guess ad money is more important than gameplay. All in all, it has the potential to be a great game, I know it was better BEFORE the upgrade. Now, the ads are more prolific. It might be worth a few dollars to eliminate ALL ads, but even if you pay to eliminate the ads, you still get the developers ads and they still block the screen. I don’t mind a few ads but come on, you have too many now.
The traditional, modern and Russial versions are great, but get rid of the computerized graphics. It really slows gameplay and is a data hog. The sound it makes sounds like the Iron Giant tapdancing. The developers took what was great, and in an attempt to make it better, broke it. I may delete.

EDIT: hi Cobaltace - we had contact again, but as I told you, we were on vacation during July. The ads that appear are an error, they are not intentional. And if you buy remove ads, they are gone and cannot appear anymore. As to graphics and sounds: go to the game options: the game can still be played exactly as it was in 2017 (graphics wise). Just use the available options to make it like that!I think it was perfect even before this update, and I’m sure I’ll come to appreciate the new look. I am a bit disappointed to have lost my previous fleet though—style and colors. Would have saved it if given a heads up. Can you restore our old fleets or probably not?
Either way, brilliant game. Would recommend to anyone.
Update: Emailed support about this fairly minor issue, and they got it all straightened out in a day! Would’ve been happy even if they hadn’t solved it tbh, bc it was just an uncommonly delightful experience with app support. Really friendly and responsive. Encourage anyone with issues playing to contact them; they’re genuinely helpful. Seems like a great team behind a great game :)

So I originally downloaded it to play my brother as a fun way to keep in touch with him.
My only criticism is that I can’t close the app while playing. I completely understand why you can’t do this if you’re playing a live game w/ someone online but it would be really cool if I could play my bro back and fourth w/ the ability to close out the app after each play. We have busy and somewhat opposite schedules and it makes it really hard to make sure we both stay on screen for the whole game. No sure if this is even possible as I haven't found any app that does this.
Otherwise, 10/10 rad game.
And I don’t see any *pornographic* *predatory* ads ;) (all adds are predatory but not in the way it was used here.)

Thanks for the nice review Mayapapaya8! :-) Very glad you enjoy the game. We are thinking about working on a turn-based version or mode, but we're unsure of some details. A match could last quite long, like say, 30 rounds or even longer. So if someone plays 2 times a day, it's like 15 days before the match is finished. I'm not sure people will have fun with this. We could of course use the SALVO rules for this, so that both players play at the same time (and the combat resolution is handled at the same time), with as many shots available as they have ships. It's not easy, there are a lot of open questions regarding this. :-)Look dude. I downloaded the the app, waited. Once it was done, clicked on the app you know to play it. Popped up glitch right back out. Didn't even see the main menu. That's how fast it was. So I clicked it again. Are you ready? Popped up glitch right back out I tried to do this multiple times, this app just don't even open! And don't even get me started on the wifi or internet bc I live literally in town pay my bills and and everything. I have wifi and internet, and a good one to! So don't even get me started on that. Soooo, I don't know what you want me to do? I'm not even going to give it a stare bc if I can't even open the app before it glitches out I can't rate this app! I mean if the app glitches right back out before I can even see anything after I click on it I can't rate it! Like I got nothing, when I click you know what I see! Ok so I click on it and as soon as I click on a gray screen quickly pops then closes right back, that's all I'm getting from this app. So I can't rate it if I'm getting nothing from this app, sorry. Wish I could rate it better. Bc I see all these other saying how good it is! Never gets boring! It's addictive! You guys did great! I love it! Great time killer!. And than here I'm thinking wow ok let me try it can't wait it must be good let's do this. And than the app does not even open. If I'm being honest I'm kinda bummed. But, I'm getting nothing from the App so. Can't even rate it.
