I’ve gone through many quote apps over the past 12 years, and have been saving quotes since I was a kid, from wise words of wisdom, to inspirational thoughts and perspectives that I’ve come across over the years. And I am SO happy the developer is still developing and improving this app after discovering it 4 years ago after my previous favorite was abandoned by its developer (and no longer available).
Pros:
+ Can import your quote library from a previous app via CSV spreadsheet file
+ Can automatically add a quote from your clipboard upon launching the app (can turn on or off in settings)
+ Author field
+ Source Field
+ Catogories/tags (like “Wisdom” and “Funny” and “Inspirational” and “For the hard days” etc.
+ Can turn on push notifications to get random quotes sent to you at specific times during the day (like first thing in the morning to start your day, in the evening to end your day with wise words to ponder as you drift off to sleep, etc.)
+ Can export backup file (although you need to connect phone/device to computer to extract it. See negatives below).
+ Can now send friends entire quote library as a text file, which can also serve as a backup method on the go!
+ Clean and easy+intuitive user interface
+ Still being updated as of March of 2024!
Cons:
- When backing up your quote database as a CSV spreadsheet file (which is fantastic and is a requirement for me in any quote app), you need to connect your phone/device to a computer to get it off the phone and onto your computer. This is a huge disadvantage for anyone who doesn’t own a computer, and is a pain for those of us who rarely use a computer these days. I contacted the developer about being able to save the export file to a cloud service like iCloud or Dropbox, or being able to email the quote database file, and he kindly replied, asking what the use case would be, and I said as a means of conveniently backing it up and/or sharing it with friends and family, and he said he may look into it as a possible future update. Then a month later, he added the ability to send a text file of the quote library to friends via the app, which is great! But not as great in my mind as being able to do the same with the CSV spreadsheet file, as this is the file you’ll need to import your quotes into a new/different app if this one is ever discontinued/abandoned, so I hope this is updated soon!
Thanks to the developer for creating such a perfectly elegant and simple app that perfectly fits practically all my quote needs, and charges a very reasonable one-time price for it!
