Description of Perspective Cards

Many people’s worldviews are becoming increasingly eclectic, while the Christian worldview is becoming increasingly irrelevant and confusing. This can be huge barrier to understanding spiritual reality and knowing God. How can we help those we care for? Imagine a deck of cards which can guide you through an enjoyable and deeply revealing spiritual conversation. Perspective Cards allows people to share what they believe, explore the Christian worldview, and take the next step on their spiritual journey in an environment where they feel safe. That is the beauty of Perspective.

Reviews of Perspective Cards

  • AWESOME

i LOVE this app so much!
  • Revolutionary!

This is truly a revolutionary tool for evangelism. As one who for years used The Four Spiritual Laws to communicate the Good News, I have found this to be much more effective. Why? The Four Spiritual Laws required one person to sit and listen to a lengthy presentation and then make a binary choice at the end.

By contrast, Perspective Cards allow the game-player/survey-participant to do most of the talking, especially during the first part of the presentation. That normally opens him up to hear the presenter give the Christian viewpoint on the issues raised by the survey.

The presentation ends with the game-player/survey-participant choosing a Next Step among four options. So far, virtually all of the people with whom I have used the survey have chosen, in one way or another, to continue pursuing information about the issues raised by Perspective Cards.

Here’s my suggestion for one improvement: At the end of the survey, the survey-participant’s responses are emailed to him along with a message that has been pre-inserted: “May the conversations you have and the ideas you explore sincerely help you on your spiritual journey!”

Since I am planning to continue the conversation with my game-playing friend and to explore the ideas with him, I need to change that wording: “May the conversations we have and the ideas we explore sincerely help us both on our spiritual journeys!” This revised wording communicates a message that sounds much less like, “I have the answers, and I hope you’ll find them someday too.” The fact is, I don’t have all the answers, and by continuing our discussion together, we will both benefit. The rewording puts my relationship with my friend on a much more leveled playing field.

Get the tool and use it – it’s terrific!
  • Really creative, really helpful

For friends who don’t know where they stand, this is a great resource to talk them through their options. Having clarity around perspectives is the first step to having meaningful discussions around why they believe what they believe and how it is different from a Christian worldview.

If I could propose three improvements to the app, it would be 1) how to approach someone who starts from a “non-Christian” reference point and what to say to them to get them to consider the inadequacy of their perspective compared to the Christian perspective. And 2) it would be helpful to take all these labels and the generate possible “camps” that people fall into: (i.e. “you believed these five things, that means you’re probably a Mormon”). 3) there should be a way to make this app “facilitator free”—for example, I might text the app to my friend and the user experience should make it easy for my friend to “play the game” by himself or herself.

Well done! I bought two decks of the physical cards after seeing the concept, because these are wonderful for conversations.
