*NEW!* Free writing prompts! Tens of thousands of writers have trusted Transom to organize their thoughts on the fly. But what if you don't have anything to write about? Transom's built-in prompts are a great way to jumpstart your writing process and maintain your creative momentum. Tap the "light bulb" icon (either in the Thoughts list or when creating a new Thought) to receive a fun little idea-starter — and fear the blank page no more!

NEW! A big update to the EXPORT feature: save or share your Thoughts as PDF, RichText File, or CSV — and customize that export by Project or Tag. How it works: when viewing the list of Thoughts in any Project or Tag, tap the three dots in the top right and select Export. (Or you can go through the main Preferences menu, which is found by tapping the three dots in the bottom right corner.) Then select which Projects or Tags to export, and then the format you want it in. Share it with yourself or someone else using any of the built-in methods available via the iPhone menu.

Thanks to your feedback, we have fixed a few small issues with creating and editing Thoughts while filtering through the Projects and Tags lists. Write on!

We fixed some visual quirks in the iPad layout and improved refresh and synchronization when using Transom across multiple devices. Taking notes on the iPad is now much cleaner, especially in landscape mode with the iPad Smart Keyboard. Give it a try!

WHOOPS. Our new autosave feature loved your Thoughts so much it saved some of them twice. Sorry 'bout that! Found it, fixed it, shipped it. As a result, you might still have some old double-think in there (we didn't want to mess with anyone's existing data), but you can easily get rid of them — from the Thoughts view, just swipe right to archive, or swipe left to delete. Neat? Sweet.

Now with autosave! Furthering our mission to help you never again lose an idea, Transom now saves an open Thought every 60 seconds. So if you get pulled away from the app mid-Thought (by an email, phone call, or my sister-in-law's awesome new TikTok video), you won't lose your progress. You'll notice in the header that the saved-on date will automatically reflect the time of the most recent auto-save. (Otherwise, the app works the same — namely, you can still tap the "check" to manually save.) Stay healthy, writers!

Sequestered? Quarantined? Stir crazy? Sounds like a good excuse to take some notes on the novel, eh? Good news: we just made it even easier! Now you can quickly create Thoughts from the iOS share menu — just copy some text (from any website or other app), tap "share," and then tap the Transom icon. You can even tag it or add it to a Piece — all without having to open up Transom. Other cool stuff: In the Tags and Pieces lists, you can now see a count of the Thoughts associated with each one. Also, long-press on a Thought to see a preview of it (including the Piece and Tags), saving you the trouble of diving in and out of Thoughts to find that one, magical line you wrote down. Plus a few bug fixes, like speeding up the process of renaming a Piece, cleaning up the list UI, renaming the export filename, and making the "added" state of Pieces and Tags in the Thought view more prominent.
