  • Not iOS 13 compatible

App hasn’t been updated in years, connectivity is spotty at best, parametric EQ is difficult to use. But worst of all is the app is not iOS 13 compatible, which means my S12EQ is now obsolete. Elac should have never released an app based control system if they didn’t plan to support it beyond the 1 year sub warranty.

  • iOS 13 made this App stop working!

Prior to the iOS 13 update, this Sub Control worked great, but now, it doesn’t work at all!! I contacted Elac last week about this, they got back to me & said they have a fix for this, but, we’re still waiting for Elac to give us this update/fix!! BTW, Elac hasn’t done an update for this App in 3 years. Anyway, please fix this issue so that we can all get back to enjoying those incredible sounding Elac speakers & subs!!!

  • Does not work with iOS 13!

With the iOS 13 update that just took place, the Sub Control app is no longer functional. Without the app, you can not even adjust the volume of the sub, let alone run the auto-EQ or make any other adjustments.

Support for this app has been non existent for several years, but at least it ran up to iOS 12.

If you have this app, you should not upgrade to iOS 13 until this gets fixed (if it gets fixed).

  • Good, but needs some polish

It does what it claims to do, but the UI appears to be a work in progress.

Some of the displays are chopped at the edges, which I thought may relate to orientation, but portrait or landscape does not matter. It makes me wonder if anyone actually used the app with an iPad to have let some of that stuff go out the door.

Some of the numeric sliders are too coarse for fine adjustment, such as the Phase control. Speaking of which, the App does not seem to show the current Phase setting after it has been set. If you do set a value, and exit the App, when you return it will read 0, although I assume the sub is still running with the last received value. Conversely the App does correctly report the current volume level.

It also would be good to be able to see the currently applied auto-EQ setting without going back into the Auto-EQ section of the App. It is too easy when doing so to end up restarting the process.

In general, while I was able to use the App to dial in my sub and new B5 loudspeakers, there are some aspects of the App that are not really intuitive. I am very experienced setting up subwoofers in both stereo and multi-channel systems, so there was really nothing that presented any insurmountable challenges, but to a neophyte, the odds of them getting things right are not great.

Lastly, they really need to update the listing here to reflect the just released Debut subs.

  • 1090 Sub plus Bluetooth connection works great

I agree with the previous reviewer that I knob would have been great.

However, I am currently running duo subs. 1st B&W ASW 10 (old school knob Type) 2nd ELAC 2090. I was very skeptical because there is a lack of info on these subs here in the states. A lack of proper reviews etc. I took the plunge and knew I could always send the sub back within 30 days.

First- Elac subs are phenomenal, highly recommend.

2nd I do like the Bluetooth connection. You can setup your sub from sitting at your couch. Than and I agree with the previous reviewer you play with the volume control. This is so much easier to do when you don’t have to leave your listening position.

It does take a second to open the app and have your phone or device connect via Bluetooth to the sub but that’s it. I’d rather not leave my couch and play with how much bass I want, at what phase set etc.

I also use my AVR to set everything, however you will absolutely need to get up and mess with knobs as you switch from streaming devices, Cable Box, music etc...

  • Didn't work at first

For the first week or so I had it, I was unable to connect successfully to my S10EQ. It either failed immediately with no explanation why, or just sat there trying to connect, showing the spinner, forever.

Now, though, after no apparent change to my speaker setup or Bluetooth environment, it works. It still sometimes fails to connect the first time, but a retry or two does get it going eventually.

The app itself is okay... the only thing that actually matters to me is volume adjustment, as my receiver handles everything else. It would have been so much easier if it just had a physical volume knob on the sub.

  • Good start

It's wonderful to have this customizability in an app, but stability and usability need to improve. It often takes multiple attempts to complete an Auto-EQ, with a lot of odd errors along the way. Each time you even glance at the EQ tab as you tap away you'll get an annoying confirmation.

It's unclear what the modes do...can I apply a different EQ to each mode?

A lot of promise here, but the app is a bit rough. My requests: improve error handling, error messages and stability. Integrating more help and documentation would be a nice addition as well.
