Reviews of Snakes of North Carolina

  • Venomous or not

I don’t understand why there is not an easy way to know if a snake is venomous or not. You basically have to read the entire description of a snake to see if it mentions venomous. Sometimes it does not make it clear. There should be a distinctive sign on each snakes page, or picture, to quickly ascertain if it is venomous or not

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback iAladdin! On the main list of snakes, there is a 'venomous' section and all the snakes in that section are venomous. When viewing a specific snake, there is a big red banner at the top of page that says "Venomous" if the snake is venomous. Thanks for helping make Snakes of North Carolina better.
  • App is great but website was better

I really admire and use this app; however, the Davidson College Herpetology website had more photos and if I remember correctly, they were much easier to view. The app shows only portions of the photos and to see the entire photo it must be pulled down and held in order to be viewed. Also, there was more information displayed on the website. If the app had been as good as the website used to be, I would give it seven stars. BTW, the herpes part of Davidson website is nowhere to be found (there was a link to a Facebook page but I won’t go there any more).

Thanks for your feedback NC Suzan! The app has just been updated and now you can view the photos in the app in a new image gallery. Simply tap on the image at the top of the snake page and it will open the gallery where you can zoom around to view every detail and swipe between the images. We have also removed the old dead links and replaced them with working links. Thanks for your support!
  • I love this app but its missing a snake

This app is amazing and I love it. Please add Storeria dekayi to the main page. It’s available under search but isn’t on the main page. There are 37 snake species in NC but you only show 36 on the menu. Add the brown snake so others can identify it. Other than that, this app is awesome! Thank you so much!

Thanks for your feedback HburgHokie2121! The app has just been updated and the missing snakes should be back in the main list and in search. Thanks for your support!
