Needs an update
This has the bones of A really good app but - it has not been updated for over four years, is very power hungry and does odd things.
The photos end up numbered differently to how they are stored. Line work sometimes gets corrupted when you close the app. Especially fine line work
Despite the small issues this is still my favorite field app by a country mile, but at some point I may be forced to try StraboSput.Show lessStructuregeo
Great app
This is the best app for collecting geological data. My only gripe is that there is no support for iPadOS 14.6 yet, so I cannot load my basemaps into FieldMove.youngk13
Very useful but glitchy app
This is a wonderful app for following maps and collecting a range of data types. It has quickly become my go-to for basic geologic sampling and documentation work. Unfortunately, I can only give it 4 stars because it has a number of significant bugs that should be easy for the developers to sort out: 1. Crashing immediately upon taking a photo (oddly my colleague’s install on a similar iPad mini has no such problem), 2. Occasional app freezes, 3. The GPS tracking is often slow to find the device (slower than other apps on the same device) and sometimes stops updating the location without even showing that GPS tracking is off, 4. Heavy battery use, 5. Refusing to use certain stratigraphic units that have been stored, and 6. Other, rarer, problems, including once refusing repeatedly to lock in a strike and dip I’d typed in. It would also be quite helpful if users could load feature data, such as from a KML or shapefile.Show lessAndre44
Great app - camera crashes it though
I love everything about this app! The only bummer is that as soon as I attempt to take a picture, the app immediately crashes. I hope they address this issue in a future update.Zack Eriksen
Good but development is dead
Very useful but buggy - poly lines often become corrupted.
Difficult to use your own map tiles.
Export to google earth is very useful.ageologynickname310
Compass freezes after power off
Grate app for working in field. As a geologist i used it lots of times and loved it. But after a while compass freezes after power of the tablet. Dear FIELD MOVE team plz fix the bugsArmin-G
GPS is not working in iOS 11 of ipad mini4
Always fail to get GPS position in fieldmove. The GPS works good in google map by the way.LarrySLai
Super useful for data collection
So far I love it, used it for several large University projects. The strike/dip data was within 1 deg of my Brunton, which is within the margin of human error. Here’s my wish list; 1) easier sharing of projects between iPads, and also iPhones. 2) Ability to import geopdf base-layers (the new USGS standard). 3) more intuitive drawing of rock units with an apple pencil. Look to notability as a template of how to draw and erase more easily. Great job!Show lessStrooper
Good but buggy
This software is extremely user friendly and a game changer for field geologists. It makes speedy mapping and structural interpretation easy. One of its strengths is its simplicity.
Unfortunately, it also crashes often and will corrupt your polylines and polygons.
