Pourquoi je suis revenue chez eux? Pour la fraîcheur des ingrédients, le bon goût des recettes et la facilité de préparation des repas.

Satisfied

I’m very satisfied with this arrangement. Firstly. I’m able to look at the calories and proteins as I’m into quantified nutrition and select my meals accordingly. I would encourage the team to focus on more low calorie high protein meals. Secondly, it saves me from the hassle of intensive grocery shopping. I can vouch for the ingredients being sent as they seem high quality. The meals are tasty and don’t take long to prepare. You can maybe work on sending chopped garlic instead of sending a whole garlic bulb. It will really save time and hassle. Same goes with the onion as well. Also, try to keep all meat options as an extra as a lot of us want to avoid eating red meat as it’s not particularly healthy and would like to replace them with chicken or prawns. The meals so far are seemingly reasonable in terms of pricing as I’m enrolled through a programme hence saving money. Overall very happy and satisfied! Look forward to the some positive changes as suggested above :)

Awful dark patterns trick users into ordering a first box without confirming payment or cost

Hello fresh makes you enter your credit card details before you can see the full price for your first box from them. Automatically, they prepare an order that you cannot cancel without calling their call center. Their cancellation flows are full of dark patterns making it as hard as possible to cancel the order you accidentally made thanks to their misleading signup flow.

I will never do business with Hellofresh again and discourage anyone else from signing up. Such shady business practices.

Great service, phone app needs major work

**** Updated August 2024: Favorites have returned, which has been excellent!! We’ve also noticed some really nice improvements recently, including more intuitive choices for future week offerings based on previous purchases. Small remaining nitpicky improvement would be the opportunity to swap out ingredients we are allergic to with other ingredients — such as carrots for mushrooms, or bell pepper for onions — but otherwise absolutely love the services and recent updates! **** Love the convenience and getting weekly recipes and ingredients delivered to our door — we’ve love HF for over 4 years! However the app continues to make it incredibly difficult to use, where we can “favorite” recipes we’ve received and truly loved. Over the past few years search has been pretty horrible, but we found some keywords that would eventually work. And recently, in the last month *all* of our favorite recipes do not show in the app and the page is completely blank, despite being on the latest OS and app version. Please make searching, in particular around our favorites more readily available, especially if we pay for a service every week for many years. Also the weekly meal picks are always meals we’d never choose - maybe leverage AI to make better initial choices based on previous orders.

Usually not fresh and often missing items

The app is good, and I really love the idea of Hello Fresh. However nearly every week we get produce which isn’t fresh. As a general rule, if we bought food at the supermarket it would be as fresh after 2 weeks as Hello Fresh would be after 3 days. Occasionally things have just arrived in an inedible state. On top of that every 1-2 weeks some ingredient gets replaced by something which is “just as tasty”, even though it’s not IMO. Apparently this happens due to seasonal shortages, however it’s usually canned foods which aren’t typically affected by seasonal shortages. I’ve used Wonky Box before and every thing from there is (somewhat ironically) 10x better in quality Will try Yum Jar and see how that compares.

EDIT: I since had a box which was missing an entire meal. Trying to get a refund was such a drama involving half an hour of forms which don’t submit and getting ghosted by their support that we gave up and I’m decreasing my rating to 1 star

Great as a current customer. Unnecessarily difficult to leave

Food was top notch but when my situation meant hello fresh wasn’t for me anymore it was so difficult to end my subscription. First if you just want a break you cant. You have to cancel each week individually through the app but you can only cancel a few weeks in advance so ridiculous if you just can’t for a month or two but wanna come back. Then when I wanted to stop permanently there wasn’t an easy button in the app to opt out for good. I had to call up, talk to someone on the phone who struggled to understand me and I her, get told every step of the way of a promotion or special offer to keep me and having a set script through every step when all I wanted was to leave.
A seemingly simple task was drawn out and so long. Then after I finally leave I get texts and emails months later with special offers even though I keep unsubscribing from it. And in rhe last few months I’ve gotten three phone calls asking me the same questions if I wanted to come back, what was the reason I left (which I answered the first time I called) and the same long script after every response. The third time they called I just had to be rude and say “look I don’t want this anymore, I’ve said it three times before and I don’t want to be contacted again.

With good services they make it easy to leave, with money hungry services like this, they make it a nightmare.

Great meals - quantity fantastic

The meal sizes are plentiful for two adults in their 60’s. Quality is also good as long as you read the recipes when you get them as they tell you which meals to have first. Unfortunately we got sick of broccoli & carrots after 3 meals in a row. Beans were substituted for broccoli which I understand if the quality is not up to standard but perhaps substitute with something else & not use only the same vegetable substitute. Three large broccoli in 3 nights was just too much for us!

Loving it!

This has been an absolute game changer for me!! We have tried you-foods, and although it was “easy”, there’s only so many pre-made meals you can eat before they get a bit boring.
I love that Hello Fresh is still a meal you cook at home, and literally every single thing we’ve had so far has been unreal!
I am super time poor with 2 daughters that do sports training almost every night of the week, then my weekend days are filled with games. I barely have time to do anything so I need fast easy dinners, but I find they’re always boring, very carby or unhealthy, and just the same easy meals on repeat. Hello Fresh has saved me from the painful decisions of what to eat every day, the portion sizes are great, it’s all fresh and so flavoursome, the prep & cooking time never exceeds 45 minutes, and we are eating foods I’d never usually make because I don’t want to buy big jars & packets of ingredients I need, to then throw the rest away because I don’t use it all. Hello Fresh only send what you need so there’s no more food wastage. It’s Quite cost effective too. I’m basically getting 24 tasty, fresh, healthy meals per week for $200. I was spending about $300-$350 on groceries per week, then another $100+ on top of that on meat (3 adults & 2 youth’s). I’m now spending $200 on dinners, and my groceries are around $150 per week, so I’m saving a good $100 per week. Can’t go wrong in my opinion!

Better hope you get your box!

Context: I come from a very food centered household where if you didn’t show for thanksgiving you were disowned lol. I’m also a bartender who works until 3AM most nights of the week so I don’t have a whole lot of time to cook. So I saw Hello fresh and decided to try it out. The first year was pretty good, The meals were somewhat good. I have never tried any of the “premium” Meals so I can't offer any thoughts on that. It got pretty irritating recently though which led to me eventually cancelling the subscription:

1. The chicken specifically always had a weird smells as if it was packaged in the last possible minute of freshness. I never could fully trust that the chicken is 100% fresh and edible and sometimes I threw it out because I couldn’t trust it. The weird smell and somewhat slimy texture just didn’t sit with me right.

2. CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The week before I cancelled my subscription I had never received my box. I added one of the market items since I was planning on having a couple friends over for a night. However, I never got the box. When I had reported that and talked to an agent they gave me 10$ credit for SHIPPING costs. They never resent another box or anything at all so I paid them 50$ for nothing. I was somewhat irritated but I enjoyed some of the meals coming up so I decided to give them another chance only to ONCE AGAIN! Not get the box at all.
