  • Doesn’t work on new phones

App is quite useful on my iPad but hasn’t been updated in years. Text is super small on iPhone and any pop up dialogue such as wrong answer results in frozen app. I hope they update these useful apps.
  • amazing app but it crashes every minute

love it but i can’t use it as it crashes every minute or so
  • Nice but can’t read it.

The content in this app is great. However if you are using a iPhone you can’t really read the lessons without a magnifying glass. Maybe there could be an option to use a larger font.
  • Jazz chord recognition.

A must for every jazz musician!
Those who seek to be able to recognise by ear basic jazz chords will benefit from daily practice using this app!
  • Exactly what I needed

This program is exactly what I was hoping it would be: ear training for tall chords, played block and arpeggio. I’m only halfway through the exercises, and it is already challenging! Fantastic value for $1.99.
  • Disappointing

Look like a great App, but It freezes every time I open it up. Need to reboot my device.
    Deleted it!
  • Deceptive

  • Lessons

The chord names don’t show above the chords in the lessons section. Please fix
  • Custom setting missing!

Great app but needs the custom option like the auralia app "jazz scales" has in the practice section, hard to do targeted practice without it
  • Nearly great

Having purchased the Jazz Scales version of this app and found it just right I hastily bought the Jazz Chord version but was immediately disappointed to find there was no custom menu.

The ease of use and appearance of this app is wonderful and far surpasses others I have used, however, the lack of a custom menu really lets it down.

On the Jazz Scales version I can customise an exercise in many ways including having a set starting note or random root movement, as well as the type of scales to be compared.

Taking the premise that aural training is best facilitated by comparing two items whose sound only differs in a slight degree (e.g. one pitch difference) this app falls short by introducing in its set lessons too much variety in sound.

Why would I want to compare a minor triad with a dominant 7th chord in lesson 1 (not to mention the other 3 choices of major triad, major 7th chord and Sus 4th).? It makes no sense as the sounds are so far removed.

More appropriate would be to compare major and minor triads or major 7ths with dominant 7ths - listening for the one note difference of either the 3rd or 7th degree respectively.

Similarly on the scale version why start with major vs dominant bebop scales? A better start would be to compare major with mixolydian - listening for the 7th degree only, or major with Lydian - listening for the 4th degree only.

All this app needs is a custom menu function with options for playing chords melodically or harmonically, ascending or descending, and with fixed or varied starting pitches together with the ability to choose the chords to be compared and it would be a fabulous learning tool.

I hope the developers will look into this.
