Zarjaz!
Forty years ago, every Saturday I'd suffer being dragged around town by my mother, my aunts and my grandmother, as by five pm, we would call into Mary Howard's newsagent, and I'd get my weekly fix of thrill power.
Most of those women are now gone, loved and missed as they should be, Mary's shop, also gone, now it's a bar, that was trendy twenty years ago when it opened, but not any more.
I don't even live any where near that town I grew up in, and I don't have to be dragged anywhere to get my copy of this comic, it comes through the wires, humming and whistling into my iPad.
But with every page turn, every speech bubble, every moment of graphic violence, I think of all those women, all those years ago, that smiled and ruffled my hair, while I was lost in the pages of 2000AD.
Thank you.

Greatest
Great comic, happy 40th! Think it needs a search function but otherwise great.
A portal to your childhood โย and the FUTURE!
Quite literally the only reason I own an iPad. As something of a nomad from the age of 18 onwards, storing and transporting boxes of the comics I'd persuaded my parents to buy me as a child became something of a bind. Eventually, 30 years or so later an attic full of boxes all fits inside a small mobile device which easily slips into a satchel.
I'm unsure as to why Tharg denied us access to this technology upon his arrival in the 70's โย something no doubt "Thrill Power" related and easing our fragile earthing minds into a new entertainment experience โ but I'm eternally glad it's here with us at last.
The application itself is not without issues, but any troubles I've had were quickly addressed by an excellent customer support service.

Good but not great
The actual content is great, so I'm only looking at the app itself here.
It gets the job done, and I use it at least once a week; I've recently used it a lot more often to catch up on back issues. I also like the integration with the 2000AD website so that I could read stuff I'd already purchased outside the app.
However, there are three main snags, which make this weaker than the Comixology or Marvel apps:
1) It doesn't automatically detect double page spreads, so sometimes I get confused when I've read the left half in isolation. Related to hat, sometime the pairing goes wrong (odd/even), so even rotating the iPad doesn't work; I have to slide back and forth.
2) It doesn't preload pages so I sometimes get a half loaded image for several seconds when I turn the page, a bit like connecting to a website in the 1990s. Considering that I've already downloaded the whole comic, hat shouldn't happen.
3) Sometimes when I switch to a different app and come back, it's lost my place. I assume this is because the app crashed and restarted. There have also been a couple of cases when the whole iPad has frozen up.
So, mostly it's fine, but there's room for improvement.

No T&C, no sign up
Fix your terms and conditions rendition. Not signing up if I can't see what I'm agreeing to. Just hardcode it into the app and be done with it.
Everything you need, most of what you want.
First off, I use this app on an iPad and it looks great. Even some of the really cluttered or confusing pages are just as simple to read on the iPad's display as they are on paper. (Yes, I've checked.)
All the regular releases are here, and a great selection of bundled stories from the back issues. Sadly, you can't get everything that's available from their web-store on the app. However, the selection gets bigger all the time as titles new and old are added.
The app seems to use a large chunk of the memory cache, so if you switch to another memory intensive app while reading you can expect to lose your place. Navigation is pretty simple, though, so it's not particularly frustrating.
I've had a few glitches while purchasing and downloading items, but it's always been easily fixed by restarting the app and trying again. (And I've never been incorrectly billed.) Someone did a good job with the programming here.
The only big problem to watch out for is how much money you'll spend on the awesome stories available through this app!
