Updated to work with iOS 12.4 and higher. In particular, this fixes the issue of always connecting to the device microphone when brought to the foreground after being launched from an IAA host such as Audiobus or AUM. Also, the layout is adapted for "notch" devices like iPhone X.

Price History of Frobulator

Description of Frobulator

Frobulator is an experimental stereo modulated filter and delay effect. A combination of time and frequency domain processing gives it a different sound to a normal echo box. The special "FAIL" mode adds chaotic variations driven by an iterative map -- perfect for those times when your music is just too harmonious and listenable. Apply Frobulator to live audio input, or connect with other music apps like GarageBand via Inter-App Audio or Audiobus. Frobulator supports Audiobus state saving and has IAA host transport controls. NB: to avoid some nasty feedback, Frobulator is muted by default if you're using the built-in microphone and speakers on your iOS device. If you aren't getting any sound out, try pressing the mute button. (You can now disable the automatic muting entirely from the iOS Settings.) Note that Frobulator does *not* provide an Audio Unit extension. Porting the underlying tech to the AUv3 environment is sadly not practical. I know this is disappointing, but Frobulator and its sibling apps are stuck in their historical moment; when IAA goes away, so will they. Perhaps something else will come along to take their place...

Reviews of Frobulator

  • Just awesome - still works as IAA in AUM 12-24-22

Get them all The 1-star reviewer obviously didn’t RTFM.

    Any chance of AUv3?
  • Umm

I don’t get the good reviews, it sits on mute, then just feeds back if you turn mute off, with no affect on the app synth at all. Who’s paying for the good reviews. But for the price it’s perfect. Delete it with no regrets. The other 2 right with it
  • Like the other apps - outstanding!

To the Dev: you may not know it but you're making a lot of musicians' lives better - noticeably - every time they fire up their host DAW and one of your free plugs is there to make their tracks better - noticeably.
