Description of Korvpressor

Korvpressor is an adaptive compressor/limiter with an easy-to-use interface (a whole new take on how to tame a compressor). The compression algorithm is developed with transparency in mind, and this effect processor will sound great on almost all kinds of sounds; all from a vocal track to a full blown mix. In addition to the compression unit there are three knobs for controlling low, mid and high frequency levels. Noteworthy features: • Complex compression algorithm acclaimed for its transparency and musical sound. • Built-in 3 band EQ • Dry / wet mix • Intuitive and unique user interface • Enable/Disable lookahead time • Plenty of factory presets • Three state attack, ratio, release parameters. • Maximizer on / off switch • Built-in (optional) brick wall limiter (at 0dB) Check out the product webpage for a video demo and more info. Korvpressor works both as a standalone app and as an AUv3 plugin. Feedback or suggestions? Drop us a mail: support(at)klevgrand.se or @klevgrand on Twitter

Reviews of Korvpressor

Little brother of HighK Multimedia

Very unprofessional communication skills

A great compressor, the first and easiest I understood.

I lost my review it seems tapping another star rating is what does this, i am a silly boy! Ok, my early songs I could not understand how to operate compressors, and realised I needed a graphical representation. Korvpressor was the first one that was like that, not just a wall of twiddly knobs. AuV3. So try it on an instrument track if you like, I use it when mastering mainly, doing the workarounds pete johns demonstrates on youtube. There’s just three main sliders, you have input, middle or squeeze, and output. You dab a finger on the edge of one of these bits of the ‘compression sausage’ shape, and open the girth of that section up or down.

So although I have a really soft spot for Korvpressor due to it being the first one I half-understood, it is a great and unique approach, and there are presets to help beginners especially, and the simple 3-band EQ knobs are there, and there’s a ‘brick wall’ if you want that, and ‘look ahead’ and ‘makeup gain’, which you can elect to simply max out.

So I love Korvpressor, no point me saying I am neutral, but my affection is not due to inducements just a great experience. I even put a piece of footage of this working, into a video for my very first song. It’s kind of photogenic, and I just time-synced it to the song, and it’s the ‘wurst’ thing in that video...that’s a European language pun, sorry. It’s the most sausage thing, i mean, and it;s one of the best things in the mastering of that song.

There are options now, that did not previously exist, but I haven’t mastered a song without Korvpressor, it’s a lynchpin of my mastering, done inside GB iOS/iPadOS. I sandwich it between two instances of ProQ3, either inside GB, or Cubasis 3. So I can monitor the ‘feed’ to korvpressor, and tweak korv, and also what comes out afterward. But everyone’s different, this is just what works for me, and there is debate about whether you ‘should’ do EQ after compression.

TBH, the final EQ is really used mostly but not exclusively to make sure the output level is reduced, by a set amount, but there sometimes is a weird frequency - my mixing not korvpressor - and if i find it, and tame it, i can backtrack all the way to the mix, and fix it way back there, if i can. The 3-band EQ inside Korvpressor, really helps if you want a quick’n’dirty change to top/middle/bottom frequencies, and not keen at that moment to surgically excise something like a vocal pop or electrical glitch, which I have had the misfortune to record on occasion.

A great, friendly compressor, and AudioUnit, in an individual graphic adjustment very suited to touchscreens.
