Description of Wiggly Words

Do you agree kids learn better if learning activity is joyful? A pleasant activity where students feel happy and comfortable helps to lower feelings of stress and increase positive attitudes about learning. Teach your kids phonics with this app with fun and interactive letters in an open ended environment. Phonological awareness is a critical skill for a child learning to read. A solid understanding of phonemes and sound blends allows a child to decode any word and paves the way to effortless reading and spelling. This app focuses on phonics based words and helps to learn and practice basic rules of how phonemes and blending sounds work. It comes with 700+ words smartly categorized in 30 word sets. The app focuses on changing one letter or letter group at a time thus emphasizing previously learned phonemes and introducing new phonemes little by little. What more? Kids can choose which letters to replace so they feel engaged and you have a different set of words every time you play. Read Mode: Animated letters fall on the screen to form a word and fall asleep. To hear the sound they make you have to wake each letter up. Once all the letters are awake the word is read out aloud. To get a new word, you have to touch any wiggly letter which then falls off the screen and a new letter comes in forming a new word. Spell Mode: You can spell the word by dragging letters on to the line. As you touch each letter it will say the letter sound to help you with the spelling. As you build the word, the letters will tell you if the spelling is right or wrong with cute animations. As mentioned previously, in both modes, one letter or word part is replaced at a time to help children learn new word building upon their understanding of the previous words thus reinforcing their understanding of phonics. • Best reading app you've never heard of

My toddler loves letters and is in love with this app. Its approach is much better than that of other big name apps like endless reader. It shows the letters and names the sounds but then lets the child figure out how to put them in order. So worth the price!
  • Great app for early learners

It is an easy to use app which helps pre-k and kindergarten kids build their phonics and spelling skills.
