A Somewhat Bland 3rd Entry
Although Cut the Rope 3 sticks true to the original Cut the Rope formula, there are some major problems with it. I have every achievement in the game currently, so here are my major problems with the game that I think should be addressed.
Despite there being 4 different worlds, every level in the game feels the same, besides a few tricky levels at random points. Adding on to that point, the game barely has any difficulty curve, a level near the start of the game feels similar in difficulty to a level near the end of the game. Despite the number of Nommies collected going up, it doesn’t feel like I’m making any true progress through the game, besides the occasional introduction of mechanics from the start to the middle of the game. If someone didn’t care about getting 3 stars in each level, the levels are all stupidly easy to beat. Putting all of the bad aside, the game still has some interesting puzzles when going for 3 star completion and I liked the design of some of the Nommies.
Overall, I would suggest adding more levels with a higher difficulty near the end of the game, or potentially adding some sort of section or area just for harder levels.Finished game/achievments
I've really enjoyed playing Cut the Rope again like I used to on my iPhone many many years ago. The game is fun, mainly "easy" but a few levels require a little more thought. I also like the 3D decor and the depth compared to a regular 2D screen.
However I'm not sure why there is a score (in addition to stars) as it not visible other than once a level is completed. I don't understand why there a Nommies either to collect: it doesn't bring anything to the gameplay.
Game duration is quite good, especially for a 'free' game in Apple Arcade.
Hopefully in the future we could see a true "Cut the Rope 3D" instead of an improved version of the existing 2D version.
A game where the character could evolve in 3D-space (and might require us to either rotate the environment or walk around it while wearing AVP).Perfect Sequel
I was looking at Apple Arcade for some new games a while back and came across this and thought about the original from years ago. Decided to give it a try and I enjoyed all of it. In the past, I thought there were some levels that were ruthlessly difficult to the point where you couldn’t get 3 stars without a walkthrough showing you everything. This sequel is accessible to anyone, which isn’t to say that all of these puzzles are interesting. I appreciate the new whip mechanic that is in most of the levels which allows you to create some unexpected results. (Just be careful because the cog whip hook that pulls you in has a very slim chance to lock you in place, but is very uncommon, and worst comes to worst you can restart the level which doesn’t take very long). Overall, nothing bad to say. I was a bit disheartened with its length, but seeing as they still regularly update it (at first the cap was 360, then ~432, now it’s 531, and I anticipate it expanding a bit more in the near future). That being my only real complaint they’re already addressing, 5 stars. If you have the Apple Arcade already, then there’s no reason NOT to get this.
