Faithful to the Boardgame; minor glitches
USA broken
Boring
Great game, but currently broken
Update: A year later and I still can’t use Sea Power because no matter where I click it still won’t deploy a ship
Tutorial
Ok, but some of the features don’t work
One of my favorites
Addictive
Here’s my original review:
It’s too hard, as certain cards and abilities don’t work (on my iPhone 8 with the latest iOS). Namely, placing navies or playing cards that require you to select a country to play on such as Pestilence don’t function because there’s no way to select the target...and I’ve tried every combo of tapping and dragging, etc. The same goes for abilities that require tapping on them to activate or selecting a target. There seems to be no way to proceed so I have to pick undo. Please fix so that you can actually pick things!!!
Buggy. Couldn’t get past tutorial.
Very good adaptation of the board game
Great game, but...
Favorite game
Edit: Had to add that twice I reported an AI bug with the Arabs and both times they fixed it right away. Great support from Sage!
Bug
Please update this to 64 bit!
Wouldn't recommend
Glitchy, but great!
Excellent App!
Excellent implementation
Really enjoyed this one, fast, great async play, an interesting set of decisions each turn. Easily 25+ hours of play online for me, with no issues. A few of the special powers seemed strange, but after a while of play I figured out everything fine and grokked the interface.
Considering the return for the developer on a niche title like this, I'd say there is little to complain about if you have a hobby tabletop perspective and come at this looking for that kind of feel and experience. In fact this is as well done as Puerto Rico, La Havre, Tigris, Tikal, etc. Multiplayer even better than those, mostly because of the design of the board game itself however.
Non-hobby gamers might gripe about the interface here or there, but this is really a great boardgame, and I am grateful we even have these on iOS.
They will never make anyone a lot of money on iOS or in physical form (a best selling physical boardgame might sell 5,000 copies!), so considering they are mostly a labor of love, I'm very happy.
Serious designer/euro/German-style/hobby gamers will find this to be a strong offering.
Great Game
90 percent
I would give it 5 stars except some of the empire special abilities do not work. Very disappointing because it breaks some of the game balance. Also the AI does some silly things like alternate attacks between two regions. This negates the bonus the attacker gains for losing.
But overall minor flaws.
