Informative basic app, not worth $3
This is a good app for introducing kids probably between 4-8 to the instruments and their sounds. The story is nice and well animated but short. The app is a nice start but not worth the $3 due to the simplicity of the app. More functionality would make this app better and worth the price.

I love Jazzy Day!
So glad to see this new version come out. It's been a favorite in our house. My kids love it and have learned all about the Jazz big band and musical instruments. 5 stars
A Jazzy World vs Jazzy Day
Jazzy World is VERY disappointing. Cute app if the sound worked. Some countries like Ireland work, other countries like Kenya there is no sound. Australia sound works on some but not on others or only works for half of the reading material. I am sorry I purchased and would like my money back if that were possible. If the sound worked I would be a very happy purchaser of the application and give it 5 stars. As it stands I wish I could give it no stars. For the price I Expect the product to work! I purchased Jazzy Day first, the quality on Jazzy World is very poor

Beautiful music!
My first graders just love this story with the wonderful musical instruments! Each child wants to guess what instrument is played in the interactive game. The sound of each instrument is so clear and beautiful! It is easy for the children to manipulate the instruments and make them bigger or smaller as they move them around the screen. They want to hear this one over and over again!

Cute for little kids
I thought this app was cute but my older students quickly tired of this app. My younger kindergarten students liked the game and the story. This is a great app for learning instruments and the sounds they make.

What a fun app to learn instruments and jazz music. I've recommended this to our music teacher and she loves using it in the classroom!
Fun Music App
This is a fun app to work on teaching young children about the different instruments used in Jazz music. I liked the story and the ability to work on teaching small kids to identify the sounds of the different instruments. Lots of fun.

This is a cute story. I plan to use it for language therapy in the schools. It has nice opportunities for goals on vocabulary, sequencing, and concept words.
Interactive Jazz for Small Children
This is a fun and unique story app for young children. In addition to hearing the story and having characters react when you press on them, this app demonstrates many of the instruments used in jazz with an opportunity to combine their sounds. The vibraphone is especially fun because you can tap the bars and play songs. My only suggestions for improvement are to eliminate the gender stereotypes with the trombones. Thanks!

Fun and informative
This is a great way to introduce young children to instruments—not only their sound and appearance, but their purpose in a jazz band. Activities are included in the app; the read-along feature is nice in addition to the ability to read alone. This app lives up to its intent!
Excellent app for children
Downloaded this app for my nephew of 5 years old and he loves the music and the story so much. Very entertaining and educative. Highly recommend it.

Huge fans of The Melody Books apps - have two children and they both thoroughly enjoy the apps! A Jazzy Day Music Ed is fun and teaches them at the same time! We're never disappointed and as my kids grow they seem to love more!
Interactive Fun for All Children and Parents!
A Jazzy Day is as educational as they get! Its fun and cute, especially if you love kittens! A must have for all families geared towards teaching jazzy music and reading interactive stories.
I purchased this interactive music book "A Jazzy Day" well over a year ago for our *special needs child who use to have trouble focusing on one task at a time. Before the iPad, our child would try to play with several toys, instruments, books, and games all at the same time. All this multitasking was creating a ruckus which was entirely too much stimulation. 2 years ago we finally bought an iPad to help with fine tuning our child's fine motor skills for occupational therapy (OT), speech therapy (ST), and any other developmental therapies needed that may come up. I found that interactive books with educational games were paving the future for special needs children. With this type of technology and interaction, our child began to successfully learn and remember things we were told would be nearly impossible. Our family loves books, music, cats, and technology. All that combined makes for a fantastic App. A Jazzy Day was one of the first of many books from this group that we purchased in the beginning. This book is fun, cute, playful, and easy to navigate. I love having the options to read it aloud or have it read for us. The book breaks down the instruments, teaching sounds and how to use them, while telling a wonderful story. It's been a great learning tool for us as we'll as for our child.
I noticed that there hasn't been any recent reviews. So I wanted to let others know that despite any problems the app may have had within the last year, it's still one of our favorites. I also noticed that it had accidentally been deleted from our iPad, so I went to add it back (unclear how long its been missing), which is how we came to writing such a long review.
Keep in mind that Apple has also changed many of their great products over the last couple years as well. I've heard it's been challenging for the developers to keep up sometimes with each new iOS sometimes, so we just have to maintain patience when possible. It's obvious that this is still a great app or Apple wouldn't keep it as one of the top apps in the App Store. Right?

Apps that our (meaning the world's) special needs children can utilize are very important...Our child has Sensory Integration Disorder aka SIDs (which is considered to part of the Broad Spectrum of Autism). Children or adults with SIDs are being diagnosed more these days. Always get a second or third opinion. One things is clear, each case varies on how their brain processes incoming and outgoing sensory information, therefore, it's possible no two are the same.
Regarding this App, from a musical standpoint, certain sounds, tunes, or instruments, including their tone, pitch, range, melody and harmony for solo or group singing like choirs, bands, and/or musical instrument etc., that might be playing, may seem harmonious to one, but may sound car crashing to someone with SIDs or other form of Autism Spectrum Disorder. It can be worse when people are shouting during an event or singing out loud to a song like Happy Birthday or saying Happy New Year. My child used to get emotional and cry due to the overwhelming experience. Others may experience frustration, which can turn into fear, sadness, elation, and sometimes even anger. Though, there are many theories as to the cause. As a parent, I find that support from other families and finding ways to support and comfort your child is best. Nonetheless, there are times during situations when it may be difficult to enjoy an event, family or social, listening to a simple composition, a live band, being at a party, even with other children, or hearing the local DJ play at any occasion. I say all this from experience, particularly with my own child and I'm a DJ. So I try to understand and try to be proactive as a parent and very particular with the Apps I choose. I believe that music is one of the best forms of therapy, it can help overcome barriers and obstacles. Any child would benefit from having this app just for the sheer fun of it.
That's why it's important to have apps like these to help us with our children to give them every chance they need for succeeding later in life and to overcome the challenges set by society. Now my child sings, dances, and his learning real instruments everyday. It's also important to remember the iPad isn't a baby sitter either, but a tool in addition to what we as parents should already be working on for our children. If we forget that, then we will inevitably fail them and this technology is for nothing, except making someone else richer. This is the time to take advantage and invest in your child's or children's future.

Very interactive and engaging for my four yr old. Worth the price, for sure!

The storyline is dull. The instruments are cool, even the way it's animated is okay it's just so boring after one time through.
Jazzy Rave!
My daughter is 15 & autistic (at time of review) and still doesn't read. We have reading time together and I try to get books and other sorts of things that are interactive for her to do on her own... This App is perfect!! 1: she loves music 2: touch controls are easy to use 3: she asks for iPad/touch and goes to favorite instruments and plays them over & over again. When we listen to music she can identify the different individual instruments in songs... 2 thumbs up!

I don't understand why some people complained about the app crashing.. I had no problems with the app. As an illustrator, I have to say that this app is beautifully done, the cats are just so very cute and charming, as are the rest of the animals. I love the handmade feel of the app and how different it looks from the other apps I see in the store. The story is lovely and the music as well. I can't stop tapping the vibraphone for music!

Love it!
I absolutely love this app. It is fun, groovy, easy to navigate and so unique - and a fabulous way to introduce children to jazz. However, I do think that for the price, it definately needs more substance, eg a lot more music!! There are a couple of great classical music apps for kids for a similar price that have a lot more info and music on them.
