A Journal A Day User Reviews

it’s good…toooo good

This app I had used once and I also set up a password. It was great when I used it until I broke my phone and when redownloading everything I forgot the password. So now I can’t use it. There is no way to reset it from the lock view. If I could get some assistance, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks 🙈

Helps me with anxiety

I’ve only been using this for 2 days but I feel like my anxiety has gone down so much. My friends always told me to download this but I never got around to it. I really wish I had downloaded it sooner!

Best journaling app

Exactly what I was looking for! Simple and nice with no in app purchases or adds.

Standalone Journal

This is a standalone app, designed to be totally offline, there isn’t a server that can sync over your data or anything. You can export your data to another device using Airdrop then import it as long as the file name has no spaces. In addition there is password or Face ID protection. Support is excellent, the author was very supportive.

Pretty Good, Would Recommend!

So, in my opinion, it’s kind of just the notes app with a password. Either way, it’s still really good. Only thing I don’t like is that if you leave the tab but keep it open it will erase everything you wrote. Still, pretty avoidable, and overall a good app.

one issue otherwise perfect

I love the convenience of a paperless Journal and minimalistic approach to an essential app for those reliant of written reminders. Easy to use, Journal’s versatility allows for more than reminders and errands, it can be used to take executive notes, store documents, log books, reflect, critique art and film; there are several ways to make the most of this app. Its a place for self-expression, ideas, opinions, thoughts, responsibilities all in one! That said there’s no option for account recovery, if you forgot your passcode there’s nothing you can do in app to reset it, you will have to contact the developer and see if they can resolve the issue. I’d like to see a “passcode reset” option in the following update/s, also, I might’ve missed it but I can’t find contact information anywhere, so best of luck if you need help.

Response from developer

Thanks for using the app, and I really appreciate your feedback! Unfortunately account recovery is unlikely to ever be a thing given the technical design of the app. Your data, including the password you set never leaves your device, to ensure maximum privacy. This means I wouldn't be able to help you recover your data. RE: not being able to find contact info - you can find this at the very bottom of the 'me' tab! You can get in touch any time at support@ajournaladay.com. Cheers

Molto bella

Great app!

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m so glad I took the time to scroll past all of the fancy apps in the search results. I’ve been wanting something simple and direct for eons. There are zero distractions in this app. Perfect for jotting down little bits during the day or going all-in with a long entry before bed.

I like that you can add a mood to your entry without it crowding up the main screen like other apps. And if you don’t want to add moods, the button to do so is not at all in your face. Similarly, the plain colors of the app leave your focus on what you’re doing.

The stats tab is also nicely done with how straightforward and seamless it is.

To potential users reading reviews: Keep in mind that it does not have automatic backup as many of us are accustomed to. You’ll need to export and import the data from within the app. I do “save to files” to export since it automatically opens your Apple files when you import.

Distraction Free Journal App

It's best to journal (and to write in general) without any distractions, and this app has none.

* You don't have to organize or time stamp entries yourself.
* The interface is as simple as it gets.
* There is no builtin cloud storage, meaning no badgering you to pay for it.
* There are no ads.
* There is no subscription.
* Your entries are not harvested.
* You can use biometrics to limit access to the app so that you don't even have to worry about a password day-to-day.
* There are no prompts.

There are little stats that are on their own screen so that you don't have to look at them if you don't want to. The app will reauthenticate if you open another app during use, similar to a password manager, which is a nice touch. There is an export feature so that you may backup your entries however you choose; the export format is unencrypted, so if you wish to encrypt your backup, you should do it yourself. The developer appears to be independent. It is a very good app.

What I need

I really like this journal. I like that I can pick an emoji to represent my mood. The only thing I’d like is to be able to add thoughts to my journal multiple times a day and have them time stamped. Right now I just put a couple spaces between my thoughts to separate them. Overall a great journal. It is simple with no distractions or prompts.
