Flaws: Cant tap to move cursor when using terminal history, does't autoscroll down when using ffmpeg

Trying it out sinch ISH hasn't been
updated in a while. SSH and Ffmpeg are installed here by default, the main things I use the phone terminal on ish for, converting media and sshing though a terminal because It feels better than using the "moden" interface terminal apps use, not many extra pkgs available like ish which has thousands since its alpine, but its a very smooth and easy experience here. Upside here is the file system is always visible, the other app it only shows up when the app is open and if clicked through the app, its much easier to add files to the folder for this app.

You can install nnn to make file browsing easier. Connecting by sftp/scp works but lacks autofill which is slightly annoying

Overall amazing

This is a really good app. I love it. Just one issue, nano in ssh doesn’t seem to scale properly and it displays weirdly, when I try to delete things where my cursor is isn’t actually where it’s deleting (this is in ssh). Apart from that, this app really push the limits of iOS. I am amazed by the fact that I can just start a python http server and other devices can connect to it. The ssh is really easy to use. I understand that apple has heavy restrictions on code execution so that (full) package management cannot be implemented and we can’t execute UNIX apps. But overall really impressive.

The battle cats.

I’ve seen a tutorial on YouTube that came out like last year on how to hack the game. I copied everything but it was a little different than what he was doing and I couldn’t do anything about it. Just wondering if I could get some help. But overall I like the idea of the app

New UI is confusing

Very confused by the new multi-arrow buttons on iPhone. They don’t seem to do anything. Am I doing something wrong?

$ pip check
curl-cffi 0.15.1 has requirement cffi>=2.0.0, but you have cffi 1.17.1.

$ pip install --upgrade cffi
Successfully installed cffi-2.0.0

$ pip check
cffi 2.0.0 is not supported on this platform

Response from developer

Thanks for raising this issue. Despite what "pip check" says, curl-cffi still works. You should remove the cffi-2.0 that you installed in order to go back to the pre-installed version.

fzf command not found

plz include fzf into a-shell, i use this command a lot

this is a shell that actually use your native ios/darwin file system

i recently realized that this is a shell that use your native IOS/darwin file system, native performance with so many utilities that you don't even think about existence of IOS, this is an actual shell program that different from others (like ISH) that live in an emulated environments

Best local termial

this is a great terminal on non computer device

Amazing, but unusable

On the one hand, I'm sure this app took a towering amount of work to build, and it seems quite capable. On the other, it's just unusable, at least on iPhone. The problem is the arrow keys. In a terminal, you need to hit arrow keys (up, down, left, right) constantly and with precision. The app has these slippery combo left/right and up/down keys you are supposed to drag. It's effectively impossible to, for example, consistently hit the up arrow exactly once. I checked the GitHub repo, and at least one issue (#165) asking for changes to the interaction has been left open & unanswered for over five years, so I doubt we'll see change soon. Other apps, like Secure ShellFish, handle this quite well, so it's a shame to see this Achilles' heel bring down such an otherwise-powerful app.

Response from developer

If the standard extra keyboard does not appear on your iPad, you can reactivate the "old-style" extra keyboard in the Settings app. That one will always work.

All Praise the Terminal

If you're at home in a terminal, but can't one for the iPad or iPhone, then this is the app you're looking for. Support for Apple Shortcuts is very useful. One of my most used apps. In the end "no notes". Well done to the creator of a-Shell, Nicolas.

The new combined up/down and left/right arrows don’t work for me.

Previous versions had each separate. A recent update combined up and down, left and right together. It’s poor a design decision. There was no reason to combine them. “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”

Free, no strings, basic

it’s a terminal, it does a good job at that

Tools

Idk if it was me or a new update but some of the tools like the arrows are different now. Up down and left right are joined instead of the individual buttons that made more sense

Essential app; great new update

The new terminal rendering is wicked!! Fast and responsive; feels more like ~home.
