Terrible App

A terrible app that will constantly remind you that you have not allowed it to send you annoying notifications. Only used it because our company uses it.

Awesome

Fun

This game sucks

I was looking for a free walking app that plays like a game but every time I turn around, they’re trying to charge me. I was finally able to get the joint code but now they want to charge me for a game ticket as well. I can only imagine that once I pay for the game ticket they’re gonna find something else to charge me for. This is not a free app like they advertised. It’s an absolute lie.

App needs work

My company used this app for a team challenge and has used it in the past. This time was very frustrating, there were so many issues with syncing and almost a full day when the app wouldn’t even load.

Load Time still a challenge

I like the overall function of this app and different themes available for team challenges. Every time I need to sync steps I have to wait through an extremely long load screen animation. Cool logo, I’m tired of seeing it change texture. Just let me sync steps and slay goblins/zombies/aliens.

FAQ

What is A Step Ahead Challenge?

A Step Ahead Challenge is a walking adventure game that uses your real-world steps and exercise to power your progress. You'll embark on missions, battle virtual enemies like zombies and robots, and upgrade your character in a post-apocalyptic setting. It's designed to make fitness an engaging and epic adventure.

How does the app use my steps?

The app syncs with your fitness trackers (like Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch) or Apple Health Kit to record your real-world steps and exercise. These activities are then translated into in-game actions, allowing you to move your character, complete missions, and even battle enemies within the game's narrative.

Is A Step Ahead Challenge free to play?

The app is free to download and play, but it does require an invite code to participate in challenges. This suggests a model where organizations or groups might host private challenges. While the base game is free, there may be in-app purchases available for additional content or features.

What kind of challenges are available?

The app features several themed challenge series, including 'The Outbreak' (zombie-themed), 'Robotica' (rogue AI robots), and 'Invasion' (alien invaders). There's also 'Seasons+', a series for seasonal and holiday-themed challenges. New adventures are released quarterly, offering a continuous stream of content.

Can I play with friends?

Yes, you can form a team with friends or colleagues to participate in the challenges together. Your collective real-world steps and exercise contribute to your team's progress, making it a collaborative fitness experience. This team aspect is a core feature for motivating users.
