Would not recommend

Somewhat okay, does not explain well, and out of order. There are several bugs and the pause button does not work. Terrible and not worth it.

Response from developer

Thanks for reporting the bug. We have fixed the pause bug in the update. Please try it.

Great place for real beginners with no abacus exposure

It was a really good place to start as an Australian where we do not get abacus training at all in our education system. The easy steps are simple for the youngest of children. An app worth the while for 2.99 before progressing on to more difficult programs. Thank you.

Love it

This game is so much fun. I love the big buttons that make sliding the beads so easy and comfortable. The explanations are a little bit lacking for a complete newbie but still doable. The game itself tho is awesome, recommend it to everyone that wants a fun game and to improve their math skills. Hoping the developer comes out with a 2nd game or adds more questions to this one.

Great App Overall, Freezes Sometimes

We really like this app to teach our two children abacus at home. They are motivated to rescue the princess so it is relatively fun for them to work towards that goal. My kids are still young so the game is a little too fast paced. To resolve this, I pause the game often to allow them the chance to work out a problem on a physical abacus as needed. Once they rescue the princess, I plan to have them go through the program again without pausing to work on their speed. My only complaint is that the app freezes sometimes and we have to turn the iPad off and on again to unfreeze the app and resume play. Still, it is worth the trouble and this is one of my favorite abacus apps out there. We have multiple iPads now so it's no longer an issue, but it would be nice to offer individual student profiles within the app. That would be helpful to families with multiple children. We started out by using the Talking Abacus app familiarize them and to teach them to count to 100 on it. This app was an excellent next step to continue their learning once they understood the basics.

Good game

This is a good game. My 4yr old is enjoying completing the levels. Unfortunately there is a mental maths test every 2 levels that doesnt have the abacus alongside to support the child. This is fine for older kids but for my 4yr old, using this app as an introduction to using an abacus (because UK schools are a bit behind in maths teaching and dont use abacus yet) the mental maths was a bit hard. I would have liked a setting to filter this out until he is older, properly learning maths at school and more familiar with the abacus and its correct use but as a fun toy.
