About
Abbar is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app built for people who cannot speak or who struggle with speech and communication. It uses picture cards with ready-made phrases, spoken aloud in a clear, natural voice with a single tap.
Abbar is suited for children and adults on the autism spectrum, speech delay, stuttering, post-stroke recovery, and any situation that calls for an alternative way to communicate.
Highlights:
• 8+ categories of ready-made cards: essentials, feelings and health, body parts, family, actions, responses, questions, and time and place
• A row of urgent cards spoken instantly with no need to build a sentence (help, bathroom, thirsty, tired...)
• Build a sentence from multiple words and hear it spoken as one
• Add any new word or card with a photo or icon the user picks
• Add family members by name and photo as ready-to-use cards
• Record the user's own voice on any card, for a real, personal voice alternative
• 17 high-quality human voices matched to age and gender (adult, elder, child) across every card in the app, plus the device's built-in voice for custom cards and newly typed words
• Full English support throughout the app, alongside formal Arabic
• A Gulf dialect option, during first-time setup or anytime from Settings
• Custom profiles for every user: a simplified board for young children, and a large-card board for elders
• Add a real photo to any card, not just an emoji icon
• One-tap full backup and restore of all data (cards, family members, settings)
• Caregiver coaching tips inside Settings, supporting AAC communication style at home
• Works fully offline after install, no external servers and no data collection
• All data (custom cards, family members, voice recordings) is stored on the user's own device only
Abbar is not a demo. It is a daily communication tool built to be simple, fast, and reliable in the moment a user needs to express themselves.
