The subscription cost for academia is getting more and more insane. These are greedy people who only care about gatekeeping knowledge.
You can find most of these papers for free online elsewhere. Use google scholar, JSTOR, or Research gate to access these papers.

Highly recommend the app
Simple and straightforward to use with no unnecessary bells and whistles. I recommend this app to anyone looking to conduct research in the scientific and humanities disciplines.
No dark mode (eye destroyer)
Dark mode is free feature provided by Apple in the SDK (software developer kit) this has been industry standard in apps now for years. How are we in 2026 and you don’t have this free (copy & paste code)that Apple offers you, embedded within your app?
App is a nightmare to use
Log in doesn’t work. Constant “unavailable” errors. Waste of time using the app just sign in through the web browser.
Better than Facebook
Honestly it’s the only thing I look forward to seeing a notification from.
Peer Reviewed Studies at my Fingertips
I own an organic refillery and year round farmers market. My customers come to me with recommendations for health advice often, and I prefer to get all of my information from peer reviewed studies. Luckily I find it interesting to read the findings across multiple sources. This app makes it so simple to hop on during lulls in my day, and prevents unnecessary social media consumption. Thank you for creating this app!

cannot exit articles once opened
when i open an article, that’s it. it’s over. i am locked into this article because your back arrow does not work, swiping does nothing, and so i end up having to completely close out the app, which means i have lost my place in my search and i have to start all over.

Great app with a wealth of info
Fantastic app for academic papers plus the real benefit is the weekly email with suggestions from your areas of interest. I have to say every week their is a paper I’ve never heard of that I read with interest
I just see the same thing every time
The same papers stay in the front page for weeks. Because nobody really uses the site.

Extremely Limited App
For me, this app has some severe limitations that make in unusable:
- The in-app search engine is terrible to the point of being unusable, you must use the exact name of a paper for it to appear
- There is no “find” or “search” feature within the papers making it very frustrating to read them
- You can’t select text in a paper, which means no copying, highlighting, etc
- You can’t download the papers as pdfs to your device
- The buttons at the top menu while reading a paper are so small it’s near impossible to click them
- The app is constantly trying to sell you the premium version making it slow to navigate
Overall, everything you would want about an app-version of this website is not here. You’re better off using the mobile website in a browser and searching for articles using your browser’s search engine. There is essentially no point in this app. Very disappointed.
