Very unfortunate decision from Acacia and LM to paywall a firmware update to brew by weight
Just doesn’t work
Tap on my scale icon in the app. It starts download. Download fails. That’s all I can do. No other options. Can’t even cancel once download tries to start. “Cancel” button is not functional. Have to exit the app. How is this app even in the App Store?
Bricked my Lunar
Attempting to update my lunar failed and bricked it in the process!
Why?!
It works, connected with the scale and updated without issues. I don’t understand why they need a separate app for that though. Why do they need three apps instead of one app with all the functions from the three apps. Doesn’t make sense.
Don’t get the bad reviews
I don’t quite get why people are ranking this app poorly. Some of the reviews are about people disliking the scale because it’s too complex. But, like, it’s a commercial scale. Also, that doesn’t really have much to do with the app.
The app is great. It does what it says it does with no frills and no nonsense. The best type of app. My only wish is that I could customize the scale using this same app.

Got all my Acaia devices updated
My Lunar, Pearl, Orbit and Ion Beam connected and got updated.
App did what it was supposed to do.
I wish that in future the updates can be even quicker.

Easy firmware update for Pearl S
Very simple interface to connect this app to my Pearl S through Bluetooth and have the latest firmware installed.
Not user friendly, over designed
My scale is cycling uncontrollably through modes rendering it nearly useless, so I’m obliged to update it (get that? A scale that needs updating?!?) considering this is taking several minutes (yup!), I have time to write this review. If I had known what I know now, I would never, ever have bought this product. The scale is over designed (not in a good way) and of course way overpriced. The UX is appalling. For instance, you’re supposed to double tap on the left button to turn it off. But the buttons have no feedback and it’s unclear whether the scale recognizes when you tap on one. Furthermore, it confuses the double tap for a long tap, which changes the mode. So now you have to cycle through the other five modes (or however many there are) to get back to the one you want. Do yourself a favor, do not buy this junk.

Huh?
According to the manual, you can only check battery level with the Acaia app, but there's no indication which of the (all poorly rated) Acaia apps has that feature. This app connects to, and offers to update my expensive Lunar scale, but sits at "updating" 0% with no option to cancel. "i" icon says no firmware available. Huh? Doesn't seem to have a battery level indicator either.

No crashes yet
I was worried by the other reviews, especially the more recent ones, but I have not experienced a crash yet and was able to update the firmware for my Lunar in less than 5 minutes. It was painless.
Was crashing
I’ve been trying to update my scale because it was bricked. I have been trying for two weeks. I finally decided to delete the app and reinstall and it worked.

My scale is bricked because this app crashes whenever I try an update and I’ve been waiting on a fix for a week now.

Design aus der Steinzeit
Die App ist dermaßen schlecht und unschön programmiert, dass es für den Hersteller schon unangenehm sein sollte. Wieso eine App für ein Update und eine zum bedienen? Hier sollte schnellstmöglich mal nachgebessert werden.

Die App sowie die BT-Verbindung zum Gerät (Lunar, Modell 2021) funktioniert einwandfrei.

Works, usability needs help
I was able to update my Lunar, but the issue with the app is lack of instructions on identifying the scale model - it’s the first few digits of the serial number, and they are very small. Make sure to write it down somewhere as it’s looks like a paper sticker.
Lousy interface and design
This app seems completely useless. It took me 30 minutes to figure out that my scale *was* up-to-date. Maybe, I don’t know just say that in the UI? Old eyes and tiny text and having to write down firmware versions to compare between screens. Sounds like something that could be done in, wild guess here … software?
