About
AccordView shows a MIDI file the way an accordionist sees it: as buttons.
Press play, and the buttons light up in time with the music — melody on the right hand, bass and chords on the left. Before you work out the fingering from a score, you can simply watch which buttons are pressed, and when.
BOTH SIDES OF THE INSTRUMENT
• Melody board: a five-column chromatic button accordion in C-system, with the chromatic scale running diagonally, exactly as it sits on the real thing.
• Bass board: a Stradella layout — two bass columns plus major, minor, seventh and diminished.
FINGERING, CHOSEN FOR YOU
On a button accordion the same note appears in more than one column. AccordView looks at the phrase currently playing, picks the three adjacent columns that keep your hand most compact, and lights those buttons brightly. Duplicate buttons outside that band stay faint, so the choice between them is obvious at a glance.
SEE THE ACCOMPANIMENT AS ONE SHAPE
On the left hand, AccordView works out the chord from the notes being played and links the bass note to its chord button as a single connected blob. The oom-pah — and the oom-pah-pah — becomes visible as the movement of your hand. The accompaniment period is detected automatically, or you can set it by hand anywhere between 0.5 and 6 beats.
BUILT FOR PRACTISING
• Playback speed from 0.25× to 2×, for taking a fast passage slowly.
• A seek bar, to jump straight back to the bar you're working on.
• Octave shift of ±3, to match the range of your own instrument.
• Track selection: choose which track of a multi-track MIDI feeds each board.
• Mirror and vertical flip, to match how you hold the instrument — or how it looks facing a teacher. Button labels stay the right way up either way.
ON EVERY DEVICE
iPhone, iPad and Mac. iPad and Mac show both boards side by side; iPhone swipes between them.
