ARC OLAS Guardian JUNK

What a waste of Time and Money, first the wire diagram does not match Mercury as I have two purple wires at the cut off switch. The app picture shows that you should see a float-on if the tag is set for “Cut-Off and Alert” I can only get a picture of the wrest tag. The engine will not shut off and I have tried exchanging the wires. Other options appear on the app such smart key, disable cut-off, enable smart lock and others with no explanation of how to use these or what they do in any of the directions. I have called and spoke with I believe Filex he was nice enough but had no idea what I was talking about said he would have his supervisor Chris get in touch with me but never did . I have now sent an email but I don’t expect much. Save your money and time look elsewhere! This is supposed to be a safety item and I believe is Junk!

Works perfectly, love it

Installed the Guardian in the boat, and it works great with the wearable OLAS tag. Great option for being out by myself and having some mobility on the boat rather than being clipped to kill switch tether. Time to buy more tags for the rest of the family :-)

garbage - do not waste your time

Garbage app. Cannot get it to stay connected or update any settings on my Olas Guardian no matter what. Thankfully, the guardian still works on it's own, but there's no way to update / change settings / anything since the application is literally hot garbage. Do not waste your time with this until it's updated by a software engineer / developer team that actually understands what is needed and how to implement it.

Does not track and does not work if you just fall overboard

The box is misleading, this will not track the unit that fell in. It only tracks the location of the phone when it separated from the unit.

This unit could be so much more. The wrist band needs to sense water and activate instantly if detected even if the person is waving their arms above water. In rough seas, 8 seconds plus a hundred feet is too far to find someone.

Also, there should be a 2 second mode. If your in the marina and a child or pet falls or slips overboard the unit should instantly activate not after 8 seconds..

But I'm giving it 3 stars because it's better than nothing and is a good idea.

If you get a water sensing technology one, I'll buy it.

You don’t want to rely on this in a life or death situation

I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel on a safety product like this one I have an obligation to warn others:

Tracking is inaccurate and intermittent. Specifically, loses / cannot establish connection to OLAS GPS transmitter in MOB mode, which is obviously the whole point of this device. Frankly, it undermines my trust in the ACR brand and makes me wonder how well my other ACR products work in an emergency.

On the plus side, it looks cool, so if your primary use is bolstering your offshore credentials in a nightclub, highly recommended ...
