Adding Apples
This app would be work well for a supplement activity. The students could have fun and experience what it’s like working in a shop like atmosphere. The makers made the apples very realistic, however, with the way the apples move around the screen, it would make the students very hard to do one-to-one counting, which might cause seem confusion. Overall, I think this would be a good app to have in the classroom and at home, but would work better one on one so the teacher or parent can monitor the students’ progress since the app doesn’t have a great feedback option.

Contains Social Media Connection
Although it states in the description of the app that the app "Does not contain Social Network Integration". IT DOES! the home screen of the app has three big buttons: BE A FAN ON FACEBOOK, FOLLOW US ON TWITTER and Review the App. When I saw this I gave up on the app completely. Disappointed!
Useful game
Helps to teach grandchildren basic arithmetic.
Great for early addition
This is a great way of introducing and practicing the concept of addition, using “virtual manipulatives.” The graphics are gorgeous. I love how the apples change colour as they are counted, which helps children stay on track. It is great that this is a child-directed app, and that children can use it to input their own equations, but I’d love to be able to set some for my child so that they can practice particular facts.

This app visually represents various additon problems that you create, and it gives you 3 answers you can select. The description states no social media yet there is a link to Facebook, Twitter, and the App store on the main screen.

This is a great app to help students visualize the addition process. I work with students with special needs. This app fits the bill: tactile, auditory, and visual all in one!!

As a teacher, I find this app to be very cluttered. In addition, you can only use numbers once and child choose numbers to push. Be more useful if student was given the problem and they put the answer in.

Great graphics, instant reinforcement, tracking progress on three students/children, calculator type play to transfer to other calculators when ready, visually and tactiley pleasing. Adding Apples
I liked how the apples were covered once they were all put together, but i would like to see a number sentence up on the screen to show what numbers you were adding together. I also don’t like how you can’t use a number for another problem until you finish adding all remaining numbers together.
Great way to learn addition
I love how the apples get wrapped as you count them, and how the two numbers being added come in as different apples. It is both visual and tactile, as much as an app can be. I would love to see this expanded to include subtraction -- maybe by eating the apples? It would be nice if there was a little more variety in rewards for doing the math -- decorate a tree house or some other reward system. Overall, a great app for learning addition facts.

A perfect intro to addition
We’ve got quite a few math applications and the problem we’ve had with them is that the apps often start moving into more advanced mathematics when we’re really looking to improve our son’s confidence with the very basics before moving on.
Some design choices I thought were particularly nice:
- only uses the numbers 1-9 (though the total can be over 9, obviously)
- gives the option to only use a subset of those numbers if your child is just starting out.
- makes the child use all the numbers to finish a round. If they pick just the small ones to start, they’ll be left with only big ones at the end. One way or another, they’ll get practice with all of them.
- trophies for the number of answers completed was a nice idea. We got through the first 25 questions fast and our son is eager to do the next 25 to see the silver trophy.

Great app for adding with manipulatives!
I really like this app for elementary aged kids! It does a nice job with helping kids learn to add by giving them apples to count. I love that you can keep track of student progress and control how the numbers that they have to add. I would love to see the option for more than 3 different kids to monitor. A fun game would also be a neat addition.

Visually stunning app for hands on addition
My kindergarten students love this app. There is nothing else like it on the App Store. I like that kids can touch each apple to count and that the apples change so kids can't accidentally count them twice. It's great that you can have 3 different accounts. I would like to see the number sentence displayed to reinforce the concept even more.

Great Addition Practice!
Adding Apples is a great app to use for my young students who are learning basic addition. I can easily check on their progress at any time. The students love to work towards earning the trophies, and this is a goal that each child can achieve! The 3-D graphics are great and keep the students engaged.
