So much opportunity to do better…and didn’t
Especially coming from a team of marketers who should know better, this app was so disappointing. I decided to give a full review in hopes that it can be improved for next year.
The actual app worked fine, but there were so major opportunities that would have significantly improved the app and event experience:
1. Give me the ability to favorite/save multiple events that happen at or around the same time!!!! This drove me crazy.
The list of panels was sooo exhaustive, when planning for the event, I wanted to go through and save the ones that look the most interesting and then decide what my schedule should look like…but we couldn’t do that in the app (or online). It also would have been nice to save events we couldn’t go to so we can easily come back and watch the recording.
2. Enable attendees to ask questions DIRECTLY IN THE APP. We should not have had to go into a separate website in a browser to ask questions for the panel.
3. Enable attendees to give REAL TIME FEEDBACK DIRECTLY IN THE APP. Instead I had to wait until the end of the conference to sit down at my PC, login online, and find the panels I went to in the schedule to fill out the survey (side note, we should have been able to give more specific info about why we did or didn’t like the panel when giving feedback).
4. Should be able to click on panelists to view bio, get their email address, or connect with them on linkedin via the app. Obviously panelists can disable this if they don’t want anyone emailing or connecting with them but it was really difficult to follow-up with anyone who spoke.
5. Automatically move to relevant date/time in the schedule. Every time I opened the app it took me back to the general Monday schedule, so I would have to click into the right day and then scroll all the way to the time. If I hadn’t already added a session to my schedule for the next time, i would have to go and scroll through the entire day’s schedule to see the upcoming sessions.
