count down

the countdown to go to the next segment isn’t a bad idea but the fact that i could miss click a answer on a 2 question knowledge quiz and have to sit through another 15 minutes of information i already read makes me wish this school choose another app to use.

I hate this app

Takes an insane amount of time to go through even if you already know the material. Wish there was a placement test before hand so you could go a little bit faster through the material

Useful learning

FlightReady provided plenty of useful learning modules for the private pilot test. After many hours spent in the app, I Scored a 98% on the FAA exam with one question answered incorrectly. Btw I was part 61 student whereas many other users at my training center were under part 141.
The developers do respond to queries posted through the app. Mainly, I discovered small typos and other grammar problems and I submitted the feedback forms to improve the app.
The content is great and prepared me well for the FAA exam for private pilot.
Liked the feature of being able to work on areas of “need improvement” and over time moving the need improvement to the “mastery” category.

Could be so much better!

Unfortunately the owners/developers/admins of this app are locked into their rigid paradigm and do not listen to feedback from users. This would be an amazing tool both for learning as well as preparation for the FAA knowledge tests if it incorporated some of the structure of Sheppard Air study programs. Sheppard Air got me a 96% on Instrument and 99% on Commercial!

Meh

“Meh”? Well, we were hoping for a “Wow!” but we’ll take it. 😅 Jokes aside, we’d love to know how we can turn that “Meh” into a “Marvelous!” If you have suggestions or ideas, feel free to drop us a note through the Support button in the app. We’re here to make your experience anything but “Meh.” ✈️

Save your time

Don’t recommend, very arbitrary in nature. Forced time is childish and annoying. Might get you a 73 on a written test....maybe.

Response from developer

hank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the app didn’t meet your expectations and that you found some aspects, like the timed features, frustrating. The timing functionality is designed to help simulate the pacing of real FAA exams, but we understand it may not suit everyone’s study style. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive tool to help users confidently prepare for their FAA exams, and we’d love to learn more about how we can improve your experience. If you have specific suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out via the Support button in the app. Thank you again for your input, and we wish you success in your aviation journey!

Works fine, could benefit from moving away from textbook style

My rating isn’t a knock on the app or its functionality, it has worked fine for me without fail. It’s just that it doesn’t suit my learning style in any way. I take the time to study and absorb the material but I simply can’t learn by reading page after page, then immediately being expected to understand/memorize the material. I assume I’m not the only one who struggles in that regard. I would benefit more from video/interactive activities and I think everyone else would too. I know there is a set curriculum, but it is something to consider adding in the future to help others learn more efficiently (:

Thank you for the constructive feebdack. The courses are currently being revised to incorporate interactive activities, and those changes will roll out with course updates over the next few months.

Anything but user-friendly, waste of time

There is an update every time you log in. It has timers on every slide and will not let you move at your own pace. Once you’ve completed an area you cannot go back to review. If you are more hands on like I am, you will feel like you are in prison trying to finish this. Buy Gleim or Sportys. With this app I found myself copying down everything in my notes word for word just to study the material. If you take too long on a slide it puts a timer on the screen for sign-out so not only are you fighting this app to learn the material but now you have to push a button on your screen as your rewriting the app. It has been frustrating to say the least.

Thank your for the feedback. In the future, if you experience issues using the app, I suggest tapping the Support button in the app. I think you'll find that we address problems quickly. Unfortunately there is not much we can fix in this case because your review does not provide any specific examples, but I will discuss how the functionality you expressed concerns with works. As an initial matter, the course settings you expressed concerns with are set in accordance with your flight school's policies. If you disagree with those policies, you should address them with your schoool. We can only fix software issues (i.e., is the app properly applying those policies). "There is an update every time you log in." The app does not require a log in every time it is used, nor does it require an update every time a user logs in or opens the app. We issue updates as needed to provide the most current content. On average we update the app once per week. Updates takes 15 seconds to download on the average high-speed connection, and we apologize for any inconvenience this long period of waiting may cause. If the app is requiring you to update the course EVERY time you open the app, that is not corect behavior, and should be reported via the Support button in the app. "Once you’ve completed an area you cannot go back to review." This is not correct. There is no part of any course that is locked after completion, and you may freely review any lesson. If you are locked out a lesson after it is completed, that is a bug that should be reported via the Support button in the app. "It has timers on every slide and will not let you move at your own pace." This is likely referring to the requirement that you spend a minimum amount of time reading the presented text before the next button is enabled. You should never be hindered from moving at your own pace because that timer is based on a reading comprehension speed in the top 98th percentile of college-level readers. It would be extremely unusual for a student to read and understand the text in less time than the app requires. But if this is occurring to you on regular basis, we can adjust this setting for you. I suggest a reading comprehension test, such as the one at www.freereadingtest.com, to determine how fast you can read and comprehend text. If it is over 300 words per minute, then we can adjust your settings. If this occurs in isolated instances, then it is possible that the activity is configured improperly. The average reading activity contains around 120 words, and requires 25 seconds to complete. If it is taking significantly longer, please tap the Support button in the app, and let us know the lesson and activity. "If you take too long on a slide it puts a timer on the screen for sign-out" You are likely referring to the inactivity warning that appears if the app detects inactivity. This warning requires an extremely long period of inactivity. For example, students take an average of 2 seconds to answer questions, and the warning appears after 60 seconds have elapsed with no interaction with the app. Tapping the OK button dismisses the warning for the same period of time. Again, it would be extremely unusual for a student to see this warning ever, let alone multiple times while taking a course. If you see an inactivity warning, and you feel it was displayed before you had a chance to complete the activity or answer the question, please tap the Support button and report it to us. I hope this helps you understand how the app works. In the future, if you experience any issues using the app, please tap the Support button and communicate the problem to us. We can't fix problems that are not communicated to us.

I wanna review what I marked

Not convenient!
can not save and search what questions I marked.

Idiot app

I cannot open it and it always remind me that I should update the lesson ,as long as the screen goes out,the lessons will be lost .Such a stupid app

Response from developer

Did you try contacting us for help?

Final exams

I wish you would include the right answer and where to locate the information to the test questions at the end after we have taken the test.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. The app has been updated to show the correct answer in stage checks and simulated FAA exams. As before, lesson quizzes will not show the correct answer. Ed @ FlightReady

timer isnt good idea

timer appears too often

Response from developer

We've updated the app so that the timers appear more often.

after exam ,when do again wrong question, are you there?jump out every second once

Big bug

Response from developer

How big?

count down makes it garbage

There’s a timer at everywhere. In a lesson, if you stay on a page for more than several minutes, there is a count down come out and you have to click it in 10 seconds, or it will be closed. There’s also a count down in quizs in addition to the total time limit, if you work on a single question and doing some calculations on the paper and ignore the timer shows on the screen then the quiz will be closed and all the question you have answered will be invalid. So there’s two count down in a quiz. I don’t understand this design and I’ve contacted them several times telling them to shut it down , they persisted it is working properly and refuse to make a change. Good app bad design.

That is an inactivity warning that appears when a student has been inactive (not using the app). This is required because the FAA requires pilot applicants to accrue a minimum number of hours to satisfy the requirements for a pilot certificate. Idle time that is not spent interacting with the app does not count (it would be like a student not going to class and still obtaining credit for the class, or riding as a passenger in an airplane and logging the time as dual received). If it was not there, a student could simply leave the open and accrue unlimited time. These warnings are not random and the inactivity time depends on the activity. They generally do not appear until 500% of the time required to complete an activity has passed. In questions, they do not appear until at least 1 minute has elapsed (2-3 minutes for questions requiring calculations or skill application). These times are far higher than the amount of time the average student spends completing these activities. The average student takes less than 15 seconds to answer questions, and spends less than 30 seconds on reading activities. If a warning appears it should be a rare occurrence, and when dismissed they will not appear until the same amount of time elapses. The warnings do not appear when reviewing completed activity. If you have a specific concern about the warnings appearing before you have a chance to complete an activity, the solution is to tell us where it is occurring and why more time is necessary. We can then review the activity to determine if it is set too low or if there is a bug that causes the warnings to appear prematurely. When you contacted us, you demanded that the functionality be removed, and refused to provide a question number or activity to determine whether it was working properly.

The takeoff and landing roll tables are almost impossible to use.

The table are too small and there is no way to mark progress on the table and if you try and use a card or pen to follow the line of the table it moves because the screen senses a touch. Incredibly frustrating.

Response from developer

It doesn’t have to be frustrating. In the future, if you don’t know how to use any part of the app please contact us. The figures can be enlarged and can also be locked so they do not move. You can also download the figures in full size from our website, which you can either print or open in a different app.

Well put together however...

This is a very good study app for certifications and ratings pertaining to aeronautical knowledge.

So far what I can see from reading reviews I suggest that after having completing a certification course, you should be allowed to continue in that course as I would call a “review” mode where the student would not be affected by timers or quick answer penalties. The reason I myself would like this option is because I personally use this app to review some knowledge courses using my notebook where I write information down.

This is just an idea that I highly suggest and would take advantage of.

What the Count down for?

What the Count down for? Can’t do anything! even calculating something!! And sometimes it doesn’t show the answer of wrong question. I can’t review about that.

Response from developer

The functionality you mention in your review is an inactivity warning that appears when a student has been inactive (not using the app). Some students have been simply leaving the app open to achieve the minimum course time. Your comment about the app not showing answer of wrong question probably refers to reviewing failed quizzes and exams. The app does not show the correct answer, only the wrong answer that you selected. This is because quizzes and exams are to test your knowledge. If you were given the answer then you could pass the quiz or exam without knowing anything.
