Tail number lookup is the best part

The photo ID is cool, but the FAA registry check is what sold me. Snapped a plane, got the type, typed the N-number, and instantly saw the owner and confirmation. Super useful when you’re trying to verify what you’re actually looking at

Finally an app that actually identifies the plan

Pointed it at a random regional jet at DFW and it nailed the Embraer E175 in about two seconds. The fun fact and engine info were a nice touch. Tail number lookup confirmed it. This is exactly what I’ve wanted for years.

FAA lookup works great

Pointed the camera at a business jet, identified it, then entered the tail number. Pulled up the FAA record right away and matched. Feels more solid than just guessing from a photo. Canadian support is a nice bonus too.

Way more useful than I expected

Downloaded this after getting curious about a plane flying over my neighborhood, figuring it probably wouldn't be very accurate. I was wrong! It identified it correctly in seconds, and I've since used it a handful of times at the airport with the same result.

What I appreciate most is that it doesn't try to push a subscription on you right out of the gate. You get 5 free scans a day, which is plenty unless you're really into it, and if you want more there's a reasonable one-time option instead of a recurring charge.

Simple, does exactly what it says, and it's made me notice planes a lot more than I used to. Recommend it even if you're only mildly curious about aviation.

App does exactly what it says

Was skeptical an app could actually identify planes accurately from a random phone photo, but AeroSnap nails it more often than not. Scanned a dozen aircraft at the airport last week and it got every single one right, including a couple I genuinely couldn’t tell apart myself.

Appreciate that it’s not trying to trap you into a subscription — 5 free scans a day covers casual use easily, and the option to buy credits if you want more is fair. The badge system is a nice touch too, makes you want to keep spotting.

Would recommend to anyone who’s ever been curious about a plane flying overhead.
