Much Improved — Thank You for Listening!

I’ve been using AfroTech Connect since last year, and the app has definitely stepped up. It’s smoother, way fewer bugs, and the event navigation actually works now. You can tell the team paid attention to community feedback — big improvement overall. Appreciate the devs for listening and making real progress.

Essential for the conference, but has some quirks

It freezes in iPhones. Happened last year to on my older phone. Not that big of a deal, just restart. My biggest complaint is when I get a notification for an event on the calendar and I click it, losing the notification, and it doesn’t take me to the event.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully, it hasn't been freezing on you lately. When we find these issues, we try to squash them as soon as possible. Regarding the push notification, apologies for that. That is less of an app issue and more of an error from our marketing team when they sent out the notification. There were a few cases where they forgot to include the deeplink, so it just defaults to landing you on the home screen. We'll work to do better to ensure all our future push notifications have a destination.

Conference Companion - No

The app is great for connecting but aside from that not useful. I expected it to allow me to create my AfroTech Schedule get the latest schedule updates etc. it didn’t perhaps use some on the other conference platforms no need to reinvent the wheel!

Thank you for your feedback. Being able to "Favorite" specific sessions to create your own curated schedule is a feature we are exploring for future releases.

Moving Backwards

I'm so disappointed in this upgrade. There seems to be even less functionality than there was last year. Although I'm glad they've added the filter option for tracks and you can search the sessions.
They've removed the ability to go through the schedule, favorite (or heart) sessions, and view them under your "favorites" section. It was also easier to add each session to your calendar last year and plan out all your sessions synced with your calendar. A very helpful feature for the neurodivergent community. Instead of improving on last year’s functional design, we have to learn to navigate a new app design that works less efficiently

Immersive Updates and Preparation

Excited for the app this year as it has allowed me to properly plan out my schedule ahead of time, connect with people directly and get updates on the app and what to expect when I'm at the conference. I love the intentionality AfroTech has put into the app, it shows that they listened and went back in the lab to cook!!

Much improved from last year!

The app had several bugs last year but now it has so many more features. I’m able to see upcoming events in different cities and join communities to chat. And all the conference info is in one place so it’s easy to find sessions I’m interested in.

Keeps Crashing

We gotta keep this thing updated it keeps crashing. I can’t even open the app it opens then closes right away. Would love to use the features but literally can’t get the app to open. I’ve even turned off my phone and turned it back on, still don’t work :/

Tech Conference with a broke App??

2022 the app wasn’t too bad other than some crashing during conference and GUI issues. However it seems to have gotten worse from not even loading up during what imagine are low impact times. Disappointing

Useless

Logged in and unable to see ticket. Closed the app and restarted. Now it’s all white when it loads. I can’t see anything. Frustrating experience for such a large conference and such a pricey ticket!
