Maximize your life
If you are lacking a sense of urgency then Agemaxx is the app for you. It calculates exactly how much time you have left on this planet. It reminds me of the ancient times when kings paid people follow them and chant “memento mori” to remind them how little time they have left.
I don’t always leave reviews but I had to for this app, and you’ll see why.
First, the logo is just really cool. Then the app opens and asks how old you are, and tells you to say it out loud. I was immediately like… wait, out loud? Does this thing somehow know what I’m saying? It reminded me of one of those videos that asks you to think of a random number and then somehow gets in your head.
The onboarding is probably my favorite part though. It explains the idea in a way that actually makes you curious, and then it gets to the “here’s why you should care” part and suddenly I’m like, okay yeah, obviously I need this widget now.
Then you finish setting everything up, it does the loading animation, and boom, you see how many days you’ve been alive. Mine was around 8,000 and seeing it presented like that was kind of wild. The widget looks great too, and I like the notification idea a lot.
My only real feedback is around the paid part. I’m totally fine paying, but I wasn’t immediately sure what exactly I was paying for. Is it basically lifetime access to the widget? Are there more things it tells you over time? I think showing a few examples before the paywall would make that way clearer.
There’s also a lot of room to make this even more interesting without making it complicated. Things like goals, little reminders, milestones, or even comparisons to people you find inspiring. Like, if I said Benjamin Franklin was someone I looked up to, it could occasionally show what he was doing around my age. Nothing too serious, just interesting little things that make you want to keep checking the widget.
Anyway, really cool app. It’s one of those ideas that sounds simple and then you use it and immediately start thinking about all the ways it could expand.
