About
Hold to pour, mind the heat, and keep the ronda moving.
Agua sin Hervir drops you into a mate ronda already underway: merienda time on a plaza bench in Cordoba, five friends gathered round, gourd in hand. You're the cebador, the one holding the termo and keeping the circle going.
HOW IT PLAYS
Press and hold to pour hot water from the termo into the gourd. Let go at the right moment: pour onto the dry summit of yerba (the montanita) or overfill it and the mate turns out flat. Then drag the gourd to the next friend in the circle. Both controls are simple and forgiving, no tutorial needed.
THE RULES OF THE RONDA
Everything follows the real customs. Water should be hot but never boiling, around 70-80 degrees Celsius; boiled water scorches the yerba. The cebador drinks the first, bitter mate. Nobody stirs the bombilla. The ronda always travels the same direction. A friend saying "gracias" is finished. Hold the gourd too long and you'll hear "no es microfono!"
A LIVING RONDA
The termo loses heat minute by minute, faster when it's windy, and every location has its own weather and light. After enough cebadas the yerba washes out and you decide when to refresh it, which means heating the pava on the stove and taking it off right at the tiny "ojo de pescado" bubbles, before it boils.
FRIENDS WITH HABITS
Get to know each friend's quirks as you play with them again and again. Abuela Nelly takes hers bitter and judges the temperature out loud. Tomi talks your ear off and holds onto the gourd too long. Coni wants hers sweet with a spoonful of sugar. Don Ramon says thanks after just two. Thirteen friends, eleven habits to discover.
A ROUTE WORTH TRAVELING
New locations unlock along a real route: a plaza in Cordoba, the riverside in Rosario, a Sunday asado in the Buenos Aires suburbs, the Mendoza bus terminal before the night bus, a campsite on the Carretera Austral near Coyhaique, and a shearing shed on an estancia outside Punta Arenas.
FIVE SCREENS, ONE JOB EACH
La Ronda for playing. El Camino for the route and what each stop asks of you. Los de la Ronda for the friends and the habits you've learned. El Equipo for the gourds, bombillas and termos you earn, made from calabaza, algarrobo, palo santo or glass. La Libreta for your past rondas and your best scores, all kept on your device.
A daily ronda with its own twist keeps things fresh, and a streak rewards coming back. Give a friend a hand-drawn comic portrait from your own photos if you like.
No chat, no accounts, no shop, no real money, and no health claims: just a drink people share, drawn like a warm comic evening under the stars. Works completely offline, with a mute toggle for music and effects whenever you want quiet.
