Great Idea, Awful Execution – Death by Subscriptions
The study guide templates in AI Notebook are fantastic, truly best in class. But requiring a proprietary recorder, a separate subscription for that recorder, AND another subscription for the notebook app is a blatant cash grab.
Why not allow existing external mics and one unified subscription? It would dominate the market for students and professionals. Instead, this is just another example of great tech strangled by short-sighted, greedy monetization.
I hope they rethink this because the potential is huge, but right now? Wave AI Note Taker + ChatGPT will save you hundreds and do 95% of the same thing no hardware required.

Response from developer
Thanks for the feedback. The dedicated recorder isn’t meant to lock anyone in — it adds things phones/external mics can’t reliably provide, like 30-hour continuous recording, extra onboard storage, and always-ready capture without draining your phone.
