The most annoying mail app
I wonder if you can find a more annoying mail app. Every single time you open it, prompted to pay for a premium version. Free version is unusable.

Money grab
Bought this for 4.99 years ago. Then they added subscription and now it’s 400% more than initial cost. Meanwhile app hasn’t changed much. Loyalty has its limits and this $50 reup fee just broke the camels back.
Good Pales Compared to The Bad
9/17/26: Developer shows up just in time to raise the sub price and and rebrand it as, "... for Gmail Outlook Mail." Unbelievable! Yep, STILL! 6/2/26: STILL! Still in business. How are they even getting above 3 stars, much less 4 stars? If you have one or two email accounts that are low-volume, maybe, but then the incessant hounding about needing more money ... Somebody make it stop. I repeat, this developer is exactly what is wrong with subscriptions for software development at this level. BTW - Mail is finally a fully matured product, and if it's been awhile since you've tried, now is a pretty good time to try it again. 1/26/25: WOW! I can't believe these developers are still in business. Just WOW! You've been warned by this and many other reviews. JUST REPEATING [8/6/24]: If you have one email account and want to pay a never ending subscription fee, then go for it, otherwise read below. Subscriptions for consumer software development are a total joke about 98% of the time, and this app is a poster child for why.
UPDATE [12/26/20]: Final point for Airmail from a paid customer. This piece of software and many many others like it, (not just email clients), are exactly what's wrong with subscriptions. Less quality, less attention, less performance and less updating. Subscriptions need to go away. UPDATE [12/7/19]: Still looking back. Incredibly, instead of making dramatic improvements they’ve turned to subscriptions as a way of delivering even less while locking us and our very important mail into their dismal services because they think this guarantees them a steady income. AM as subscriptions has become the penultimate example of why subscriptions are going to implode on developers in the foreseeable future. Some, a very very few, services and related apps make sense as subscription services, mail, and for sure, Airmail, is not one of them. We need to stop supporting subscriptions with our dollars. UPDATE [09/2018]: Wow, I’d forgotten the scathing review I had already left. For those taking a serious look at serious email clients here’s an update. The paginating on iPhone has improved, a bit, but I manage a lot of email on different servers and services, and two things are just not getting taken care of: 1) Overall performance just can’t cut it for the amount of email traffic I manage; 2) I can’t quite figure it out and have grown weary of trying, but, email threads are strangely confusing on all platforms. 3) As before, the ultimate frustration is that, this is a serious email client that comes so close and yet, misses by so far. 4) In search of a silver lining - if you manage one or two busy email accounts, even if they’re on different services, Airmail will very likely become the love of your life. I use three different services one of which is my own domain, along with many aliases within each - Airmail just can’t handle the load ... not even close. So, I’m moving on. Just so serious client explorers know, I went back to Apple mail for a few weeks just to make sure I wasn’t missing something there - a big performance increase over Airmail, but just too basic to get the job done with this much traffic. Look and subjective feel of the interface are very important to me and Apple Mail comes across as very elementary compared to Airmail. I think I’ve found my next client for the foreseeable future ... stay tuned. P.S. Thank you Airmail developers, for your efforts. Insert point and page management have always been very quirky and they are not a bit better since I started using the app. Bluntly put, it’s nothing short of an MMA fight to have my phone in one hand, standing in the boarding line [airport] and trying to get even a quick response to an important email out, NOW! Whoop, I see a typo in the first line, let me use my thumb to quickly move the insert point ... Dang! Where did my page go?! ... Dang! Why is the screen bouncing from top to bottom every time I start typing! (I think you get the idea.) If the workflow this app promises to facilitate weren’t so important, I’d just move on. But, I chose AM after A LOT of trying out other email apps and it fits what I need to get done. But it’s got to be much much faster, and please, oh please, fix the page management on iPhone in composition mode. I’m already starting to look again, but if the developer will get back on the ball, I’d rather stay with AM.

On the latest app version you can’t delete items from the Bin. It just doesn’t work. iOS 27.
Was good, isn’t now
Too much feature creep at the expense of things I actually want to use. No longer lets me use keyboard to delete an email? No more “keyboard” setting in the settings (as their website suggests there should be) to fix this? Sorry, I’m done.
Shame about the massive subscription fee increase
I was a loyal customer for years but the massive forthcoming subscription increase from $9.99 to $49.99 for the iOS version without even emailing customers to explain why prompted me to cancel my subscription. Really disappointing.
UI update not great
The new UI 27.0 is bad. Swipe to delete is very buggy.
Likely end of life - do not subscribe
I have been a long time subscriber - over 5 years. I even stuck with it when the search stopped working because of their “AI” features. But now they just changed the price from $9.99 a year to $39.99 a year! Who 4X’s the price overnight on their subscribers? That only happens when a company knows their product can’t keep up (with the new improved ios27 mail in particular) and is going to lose all their subscribers except the ones not paying attention…and if they aren’t paying attention, squeeze them for all they are worth.
I was going to stick with them and don’t even mind the price for how often I use it, but this is such a strong signal of end of life that I am switching now so I don’t get caught short when they stop improving and maintaining the product.

Not worth the price
This app used to be good but it doesn’t share labels between iOS and MacOS very well. There’s numerous glitches that are frustrating such as blocked or spam mail not being able to delete or constantly reappearing.
And then there’s a massive yearly price increase from 9.99 to 39.99! Nope! Not worth it.

Annoying popups
The app looked nice and it was easy to set up a few accounts, but I saw the upgrade pop-up every time I opened the app. That kind of pushy sales nonsense is intolerable.
Lost customer
The app losing authorization with Microsoft accounts requiring them to be deleted and reconnected on a routine basis was bad enough but I have to agree with others that raising the price from 9.99 to 39.99 is a bridge too far. I will not be renewing my subscription as there is not enough value in the app to justify the increase. Would give zero stars if possible.

This mail app has significantly reduced the amount of time involved with finding everyday important emails among the worthless. Get it, take some time to set it up, pay for the pro version, you’ll be a happy email user once again.

Price Increase
Great app. But a 400% price increase is wild. Especially for those who have been with the app since the jump. If increase, should be gradual for those people.
This app is trash.
Every time I open this piece of garbage it asks me to buy it and makes me wait on the screen. Now it asks for a review. So they are getting one. Don’t waste your time unless you want another app to keep email separate.
Bugs galore
I’ve been using Airmail on my iPhone and iPad for a long time and really enjoyed the app until about a month ago. I don’t know what happened but developers need to get on it. The update is just full of bugs and the app hangs up or does something weird almost every time I use it now. Also going from $9.99 to $39.99 ain’t it guys. Too bad. It really used to be my favorite mail app.

Why so steep a price increase?
I’ve had this app for years and love it. But to go from $9.99 a year to $39.99 a year. Man that’s quite a price hike. Not sure how you can justify that.

I purchased this specifically to manage multiple aliases from multiple custom domains with iCloud Plus. There are major issues with the mobile app that cause fatal errors on replies it’s nearly unusable. If they don’t fix, I’m going to abort and eat the $40.
Airmail Unlimited
I have used Airmail for number of years, last year there was a change however my iOS devices did not present like my Airmail on the Mac, the iPad and iPhone were changed from email inboxes to just labels, not helpful not productive! I did seek support for this situation but received no help or solution.
The icing on the cake has arrived from Apple to advise me that Airmail is changing the cost of Airmail Pro from £9.99 per year to £39.99 per year.
With this in mind I have now cancelled my subscription to Airmail, I tried to utilise Mozilla Thunderbird to no avail, I have now enlisted Apple Mail, so far so good at no cost.
