Alberta Wallet User Reviews

Fundamentally useless. Like a separatist government.

Literally does nothing but show you your Ab Health Number. Thats it. Thats all.

Just let me put my documents on Apple wallet like everything else. I don’t want another useless app to do something baked into the very core functionality of a smart phone. How much money did our government waste developing this?

Sigh.

???

I honestly don’t understand it’s purpose. This is about as useful as taking a photo of my health card and keeping it on my phone. What else is this supposed to do?

Does not accept username as login, cannot sign in

Not very useful if one cannot sign in.

Claims to support Apple Wallet but does no such thing

I am no using a Alberta wallet!

If it transfers to my Apple wallet maybe…

Working progress

I really hope we will be able to add drivers licenses and other forms ID in the near future. I added one of my children, no problem. However, the other one won’t add to my Alberta Wallet. I’ve tried it several times and made sure all the numbers are correct. Hopefully this gets streamlined in the near future.
I would definitely keep a back up picture of your kids up to healthcare card just in case.

Unusable

Version 1.4 only accepts email addresses. I have a username and can’t login. Software should be QA checked before release.

Slow, poor ui

Cannot add my son's card because it won't allow me to choose his year of birth. No years before 2012.

Good Idea, Clunky Execution

I appreciate the effort to modernize and move away from physical cards. Having a digital option for important documents is a step in the right direction, and reducing the risk of losing or damaging a paper health card is a practical goal.

That said, I’m confused about the decision to create a separate digital wallet app that serves only one purpose: storing an Alberta health card. If the objective is convenience and simplification, this feels like the opposite. Most people already use existing digital wallets on their phones for payment cards, transit passes, tickets, and other IDs. Adding one more standalone app to manage a single card adds friction rather than reducing it.

Alberta already supports digital transit passes within commonly used wallet systems, which makes this approach even more puzzling. Why not integrate health cards the same way, into platforms people already open daily? That would make adoption more natural and actually feel like modernization.

It also raises a bigger question about long-term vision. Instead of separate apps for each service, it would make more sense to move toward a unified provincial digital ID — one secure identity (digital and physical) that links health care, licenses, and other provincial services in one place. That would reduce duplication, improve usability, and feel like a cohesive system rather than a patchwork of tools.

In its current form, the app feels more like an added layer than a simplification. The idea of a digital health card is solid — the implementation just doesn’t yet match the convenience people expect from digital services.

Great App

Much better than having to show your flimsy AHS Card. I really like this method.

Update - Poor implementation

Update - appears the issue with 2FA has been addressed and I’m able to access the app.

Goes round and round in a circle when using 2FA. Keeps taking you to the login prompt every time I enter 2FA

Typical GoA junk. No saved credentials, no faceid, nothing standards based

Some 1st year student probably developed this and had absolutely no experience in UX or standards based development. AI could have done a better job. You have to log in every time you open the app, no saved credentials, no support for biometrics like Face ID, no support for apple or google wallet… and no cards other than AHIC. It takes longer to open the app and log in than just to find your paper card in your physical wallet or purse. This is something made from scratch without any regard for standards or user experience. Don’t reinvent the wheel. Just use standards based vendor supported and vetted secure systems. This will be a total embarrassment when avoiding standards and reinventing your own security and standards results in a major security breach of Albertans private information.

Unable to do the ONLY thing it’s supposed to do

I have been trying for months to add my Alberta Health card. I get an error that I am unable to do so and to call support. Support phone does not seem to be staffed and directs you to email. Emailed Nov 5th and received a reply Dec. 15th explaining what the Alberta Wallet is. No indication that they even read my question and understood my issue.

More Please

Who got paid to make this simplistic app that does almost nothing. Add other ID, allow ID in app to be shared with Apple Wallet??

App doesn’t open

The app just sits on the loading screen. Not very useful.

Disconnect

It lets me sign in with my username with the same password but it won’t let me sign in with the email address using the same password I used for username. That is some crazy work.

Typical government trash

Lowest bidder with poor skills.
- poor UI
- no Apple wallet integration
- no biometric access
- no drivers license option
- not sure what the point if this is, just some politicians friend just lined their pockets with lucrative contract. ArriveCAN 2.0 lol

Really of no use

1. Cant add the cad to Apple Wallet
2. You are signed out every time the app is closed

It's far more efficient to just carry the physical card.

Not so thoughtful

Separate app for just 1 health card does make sense to use it, but I like the graphics though. Please allow to add Driving license, bus passes, insurance card.

No Face ID, only Health card

Why do I have to enter password each time to sign in ? It should have Face ID
Why is there no option to add to apple wallet ?
Also, why only health card, why not give options to add driver’s license and vehicle registration

Modern signin missing

The concept is admirable. But, why develop a separate wallet app for 1 card??? Is it a power thing?

Why not create a version of the card that can be put into Apple Wallet?

If you’re going to keep a separate wallet, at least let me sign in using touch or Face ID.

Having your enter a password EACH TIME I open the app does not make it faster than than using a physical card.

You can do better.
