An ‘enhanced’ app that failed

What a worthless app. At least three times a week, the newspaper fails to load, or insists that I am not logged in just after I have logged in yet again. When it does ‘work’, it is hard to navigate. I keep setting page view preferences and they randomly change to a different view, sometimes in a single session. Bring back the old app, please!

“Improvements” gut Functionality

TLDR: Avoid this app and get Albuquerque Jrnl Print Edition instead.

Before the app was “improved” a couple of weeks ago, it was a joy to use. It was easy to pan and zoom the reproductions of the pages from the paper. If I briefly left the app then returned, it would still be on the page I left it on. I never had any problems with getting logged out whenever I changed networks. Now it’s just the opposite and it has become unnecessary strenuous to read my local paper.

It is a travesty this obviously bug-ridden update was even written at all. Maybe the Journal thinks they can get away with this being the only game in town. Shame.

Protip: I just discovered another app called “Albuquerque Jrnl Print Edition.” It works just like the old version of this app did. Get that one and forget this one ever existed.

Production

It would seem that when your job is to put out the paper everyday you would have a quality control plan in place to review what you produce. No need to proof read just review to make sure the paper is complete. If the paper was only screwed once every 6 months it would be acceptable but every day is an adventure when I try to download. Well at least Garcia automotive should be happy they always get one or two ads in what ever you produce. I wrote this months ago and it just gets worse. Today can’t get the ejournal sends me to resign in but won’t accept my password. I read the journal for the local news and sports as I have for over 50 years but like so many others I know we are considering canceling or subscription.

Horrible new app

It routinely fails to load the current edition and the user interface is much, much worse. You often have to close the app to change pages or articles and I KNOW how to use it.

Doesn't work

Hangs up. Page selection doesn't work. Difficult to swipe pages right and left. Text zooms without warning. Awkward to use.

New version

Your new version is very hard to navigate. It keeps flipping back and forth. Some days I have to reboot my iPad several times.

Released upgrade before ready

Weeks after rolling out Journal app upgrade it is still very buggy. My wife is so frustrated she now refuses to use the app and doesn’t want to renew our subscription>. we use apple ipads. i have the larger ipad and have been able to work around bugs but wife has smaller ipad and continuously has issues…getting error notices and taking her back unexpectantly to beginning of paper. Very frustrating!

Nor as good as previous app

It is buggy, can’t get full page open article to work in landscape mode. If you leave the app it goes back to first page or tell you it doesn’t work and you try several times, it sucks

It doesn’t work!!

This app really sucks and it has for the last 3 weeks, since they put out the new version.

Bad

I’m 87 yrs old and I’m going to give up my electronic edition of the Journal and read the paper edition in the library at LVL. I can’t read this copy without losing it and trying to get it back. And getting stupid messages, like not authorized. Too damn complicated for this old man.

Really Bad

I would give negative 5 if I could. Constantly kicked out of app. Navigation is terrible.

Protip: I just discovered that running this app via a VPN with adblock enabled slightly improves functionality.

App not working

The new app is dysfunctional…can’t access e Editions. This is not why I pay for a subscription. I have come to haste it

Annoying pop up ads

App has pop up ads. Will not remember current page if you leave the app. Have to close the pop up ad and scroll to correct page every time. App also crashes much more often. Bring back the previous version!

Latest version version very buggy

The latest version of the app is constantly glitching out, at least when trying to read the e-journal on my iPad. Almost unusable.

Can’t control reading paper using application!

See title!

New format

The new format is clumsy and often doesn’t work

Poor changes

iPhone user… PDF off-line mode fails to download PDF most of the time. Files are huge at 80MB, using up data and storage space. If my screen times out the app restarts from scratch and loses my place. Reading in full screen mode is now obscured by page navigation blocks on the sides. It does not scroll diagonally very well. Hard to read comics. Very buggy. Needs major work. Thumbs down.

iPad user

It’s near impossible to use with an iPad.
